After the 8 round shootout last night between the Kings and the Coyotes it made me think, I wonder which you guys prefer.
Yes. The shootout is exciting and shows a lot of skill but I prefer the battle right to the end.
I know the league is thinking about eliminating overtime and just going to the shootout. I just wish they would keep on playing.
By the way my boy Justin Williams had the winning shootout goal!! Go Justin!!!

I like to see both. 4 on 4 is fun to watch because players have more space to move and to play, but shootout is a demonstration of skills. I like that there is both, but if there was one to eliminate, I would eliminate 4 on 4 and go directly to shootout. Some people doesn't like shootout, but I do. I like the goals you see and all the dekes the players make to score a goal.

I never liked the shootout idea. In fact when it goes to a shoot out ,I change the channel. I like the idea of ties in the regular season and that you play 5 on 5 until someone breaks a tie in the playoffs. Call me a purest.

I am saying the same thing as the other discussion...
Although the open ice created by the 4 on 4 is more exciting than the regular variety 5 on 5, I still like the shootout. It's like skill versus skill. Between the player and the goal tender. And there have been lots of exciting display of skills eversince it was instituted. Makes for good hockey.
But, for playoffs, I still like it the way it is now. Not decided by a shootout, but a regular goal!
