I started a dicussion recently about the snow storm we had coming. Some friends asked fopr an update. It's a late update but here it is. We ended up getting a little over 7 inches in my area. We had high winds as well causing blowing and drifting and poor visibility. I got the drive and sidewalks and porches ckeared easily. Here is a photo of my window covered from the snow and winds. (the inside of the windows is artificial snow for the Holiday). Lately we've been 20 degrees below normal for temps. We've had a few days below zero alreasy as well with windchills -30 also. Going to get near normal this weekend, then another artyic snap coming. I love Minnesota and the winter. Do you love winter? If so why? If not, what's the reasons? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Hey Grandpa Bob..I talked to hubby about moving up to WI where my bro lives and all the snow they got up there and he thinks I'm nuts! Am I nuts for wanting to live in backwoods with lots of snow? I don't think I am..just a loner wanting to live a dream is all. Anyways, it's been below average temps here as well last few days. We normally don't get single digits till Jan. but last few days they have been with wind chills in the - teens. Actually, I love spring and fall the most but winter is right behind em just because spring brings fresh growth and smells of budding flowers and trees. Fall because of all the pretty leaves and a signal that nature is readying for hibernation till the following spring. Winter...I just LOVE the fresh-fallen snow, specially on full-moon nights in the dark yard. I will purposely turn my yard light off during full-moons in the winter when there is plenty of snow on the ground. A sense of peace I just can't describe comes over me when I'm sitting out on the porch or back deck in the crisp cool night air.

well, we are also about 15-20 degrees below normal for us - this means 30's instead of 50's and my hands hurt - that old Arther Itius is visiting...

It rarely ever snows here! Annoying as hell. It's cool when it does though. I'm a huge fan of the crunchy sound it makes when you step on it. Its supposed to snow tomorrow, mind you, it was supposed to snow today too, but it's mainly just icy at the moment. We generally get some snow in January. (: I love the winter too! Even though it does feel a bit dank and dark.

I do love the winter! Mostly because I was without it for almost 30 years. I still love to watch it snow and while I don't really enjoy driving in it anymore, or shoveling it, it's still better than not having the season at all.

Brrrrrr.... Our little unexpected snow storm had us at record cold temperatures for about 2 days and then it warmed up and started raining. We still have snow up higher into the foothills though. Mixed feelings about winter. I'm not crazy about cold weather, but as long as I'm dressed warmly enough, it's OK. Especially if it is clear and beautiful. When it's storming and I can't get outside and do anything, I'm not so fond of it.

I don't like winter, specially when it is around -30 degrees. We also got like 7 to 8 inches of snow and traffic is still slow here. I hate to drive in this kind of weather, no matter how much careful you are always there is risk from other drivers; some people are not careful while driving no matter what the weather is. I don't mind much if I have to stay inside though lol. Stay warm and safe!

I love the wintertime also. We have not had a whole lot of snow over the last few years here though. I guess that has alot to do with the global warming. We got about a half inch the other day and we had those very high winds also. I want a good snow so we can build a snowman, and igloo and have a white Christmas for once.

For the most part I do love winter....I like staying in.....relaxing instead of running around....I love the snow for Christmas....and I don't even mind the cold most of the time...when it takes your breath away that's when I don't like it very much...but if you dress warm everythings a go....

NO I don't like winter even if I live in neighboring state to you. It's just part of life here. Perhaps that's why everyone wants to either be come a snow bird or live in California? Then again winter has it's benefits, they kill the bugs so ours are not huge like they are in warmer states.

Actually, I do love winter :)) The storm ended here late this afternoon, and we ended up with 12 inches. Cold here, too, but not as cold as in MN!! Do take care. Karen

Hello, we have had some bizarre weather here as well. Just the other day we had rain and thunderstorms around noon and then around one the wind started wailing and it started hailing then around 2 the sun came out with a mix of snow added into it. It was like mother nature couldn't decided what she wanted for that day. They said later that we had a tornado that touched down only 10 miles from here. It had been windy and brisk here every since we had about an inch of snow but temps below freezing which in my opinion I would rather have the snow over these winds and freezing temperatures. I don't mind the winter, I just wish that it didn't have to last as long...give it to me for December and then it can move on and I would be much happier....

We have seen on the TV news a little aboyt some snow storms in the US, so I guess it must get fairly bad to be reported here. Do you have a very high heating bill n winter? What does your beagle dog think of all this snow? I dont love winter.Im very much a sun person. We dont get the snow anyway.

I like the winter because I boil in the summer. It gets way too hot here in Oklahoma. Plus 100 temperatures are just not for me. My power got knocked out a couple of nights ago because of the wind, but that's pretty much all the weather related trouble I've had. It gets icy, but we haven't gotten below 15 degrees yet this winter.

hi Grandpa Bob I used to a long time ago love the snow and the cold but am sold on sunshine and already we have had rain and no sunshine at all. so gloomy and cold, it goes down to freezing and our buildings here are just not insulated for that kind of weather. we have our space heater on in our room. I am glad it is raining but wish we cou ld have a bit of sun in between the rains instead of just that awful dull grey gloom. Another violent storm is supposed to comein this afternoon or tonight.

Hi GRANDPA BOB, Wow!!! its sure sound rather cold where you are, as it is we are getting the wind chill and thick fog in the UK, but not as cold here, but I to me its very cold. Tamara

Hey Grandpa Bob! I just don't know how you can stand those below zero temps! It is now 25 degrees here and I am already hating winter! I just can't take the cold anymore! I am dreading when it gets into the teens and single digits and worse! We very rarely get much below zero, but sometimes we do and I refuse to even dare venture outside in that weather! I know that you all are used to it, but I just can't understand how you can stand it! I am already freezing my butt off and I am inside right now in my kitchen/office with my oven on trying to warm up! What am I going to do to get through the "real" winter?

Hi Grandpa Bob WOW that does sound like that winter is going to stay with you all winter long...LOL. I live in KY and it doesn't get that much snow during our winter. Last winter we got the ice storm and it knocked out all the elecric for a few days. That was a rare occcasion. I'm not big into the winter months and big snow. I dont drive in the snow and no matter how much I think I am prepared it always seems that when it snows that I need something from town and then I can't get there..LOL
