The "Bad" Gene

Recently, I have heard about the "bad" gene. Does anyone know what that is? To my understanding, it's a gene that scientists have discovered in serial killers. They scan their brains and have found a gene that explains their behavior and actions. "Normal" people do not possess this gene, and if they do,it is said that they have and/or will have violent tendencies. There is now research into weather or not this "bad" gene can be identified at birth. Some parents want their children tested for this gene.... Why .... I don't understand the benefits of knowing whether or not your child may or may not turn out bad or evil. Every transgression that the child has growing up, could and would be blamed on the "bad" gene. This knowledge could impute how much or how little you love your child, therefor, hindering the parents responses to their child's behavior. In a normal situation, when a child misbehaves, the parents reprimand them, thereby, teaching them that this behavior is bad. If you knew that your child was "bad" already, would the parents still reprimand the child for the bad behavior or would they chalk it up to the "bad" gene, or worse let the child know about the "bad" gene. In that case how could a child possibly grow up to be good if they have already been tagged as "bad"? I believe that several factors contribute to how a child will turn out. The genes they were born with and the way they get raised. If the genes they were born with are known then I believe it will greatly effect how they will be raised. Next, they will be wanting to test a child still in the womb, if they haven't already. Perhaps, this gene will prove to be a strong factor in weather or not the child even gets born. Would you terminate your pregnancy if you knew you were carrying a potential serial killer?

What if a killer says, "It was the gene which made me kill 20 people", "it's not my mistake, it's the gene's fault", "do not punish me, punish my gene". I think most parent would want their child to be a better human being. And what about criminals who do knot posses the gene. Which gene was responsible for their behaviour?
