I think a member of my family would benefit from the new drugs for depression. He is worried about the side affects of the pills and won't see a doctor. Do you know anything about the side affects of these depression drugs? Are they worth taking?

Some depression pills are worth taking. If it gets you out of depression, that is what matters, right? When I was a teen, I was put on some anti-depressants. And it did help...I I had some pretty whacky dreams. Freaky even! And I would remember every little detail of those dreams! Finally, my mother took me off of them because she said that I was acting brainwashed. I didn't see that, but I guess I wouldn't have been the one to notice. LOL I did try Wellbutrin once a long time ago. And wow! Did that stuff make me hypersensitive!!! What is the point of having a anti-dressant if it makes one cry over the littest things??? So if your family member wants to try an anti-depressant, don't take Wellbutrin. And be sure to watch for changes. But sometimes it can take as long as 2 weeks before you see changes. If he/she needs help...I would encourage him/her to seek help. It is better than the person sitting there dwelling on how horrible things are. And if one does not work right, more on to another. Best wishes!!!
