Well, its not a "football movie" but it certainly could've been one.
It was the story of a big kid from the worst side of town who could've been in a lot of trouble, but someone wanted to do for him what he could.
It was to be his son, but he was letting Big Mike sleep on his couch and the coach saw a chance to get someone that might help his football team - the coach talked him into being let into a private Christian school.
But only a short time later Mike heard the parents arguing about him and he left the small protection of the guy's place for the streets.
It could've ended there, with no one caring, but one kid cared. He saw a big kid who was lonely and afraid and he tried to be his friend - this brought Big Mike to his mother's attention.
Again, it could've ended there until one cold, rainy, November night, she saw him walking along the side of the road with only a tee shirt and pair of shorts, a plastic sack as his book bag, and his spare shirt in it as well.
Well, she couldn't do that, she invited him home to their place to spend the night - not unexpectedly unsure if she would have anything left in the morning.
Big Mike tried to leave at that point the next morning, but she went after him and got him to come back.
She saw a big, lonely, young man with nobody to turn to. Her family took him in, and got his grades up to play on the school's football team. Got him a tutor and managed to get him to the point where his grades got him to college.
Needless to say, I'm leaving a LOT of the story out - but I will say, the movie had football, but it wasn't a "football movie."
It was a touching family film, I'm glad the family twisted my arm to go to it, and I highly recommend it as a feel good seasonal movie for Christmas.
So, seen any good movies lately?

I have read good stuff about "Blind Side" it looks very interesting. The people who were based on the movie have been on some talk shows and its nice to see the family hasn't changed from their on screen persona. We liked the movie "Up", it was cute and had a spirit about it, I wish more movies were geared towards positive stories.

We certainly do need more positive people, both in real life and in the movies. We reflect whatever it is that we take in on a constant basis. I think I would probably enjoy this movie.

Oh! That movie! You were telling me about it tonight, but it just now connected. The family about which the film was made were on Fox & Friends this morning (well, yesterday morning, by the time you see this). They're a very nice bunch! Not many would do what they did!

I have not personally seen any movies lately. I know people who have been to see Blind Side and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It seems to have a really great message. Have a Merry Christmas and enjoy even more family times together.

"meet dave"-it's an eddie murphy movie about tiny aliens that come to earth in a human looking spaceship, looking for water to take back to their planet.alot of the movie is them trying to pass the robot as a real human and failing miserably.it is pretty funny though, worth seeing.

I have heard that it was a good movie. Not a football movie per say, but it had football in it. I think it was a true story. It would be a good movie to see over the Christmas Holidays!

Haven't seen it yet but all I have heard is good things about it. It is based on a true story. The lady who Sandra Bullock played said Bullock played her just right and that the movie was right too. Sounds like Sandra may get some good reviews. I would like to see her maybe get an Oscar.

I'm glad, too, that you went to see it with your family. Family's important, or so I've been told...
I'm also glad you enjoyed the movie. When it comes to TV, I'll know it'll be worth watching. Thanks.

Huckabee had an interview with the people that inspired the movie but I haven't watched the interview yet. Just about anything Sandra Bullock is in is good! I'll have to watch that interview this evening, I hear they don't give many.

speaking of DVDs, yesterday Maggiepie, who is my client, and I watched a movie I picked up a couple of weeks ago - The Spirit - its made from an illustrated novel. I remember reading some way, WAY back when, and it seemed to be pretty true to the story - well, the way things were named and the "spirit" of the story - sorry, it just slipped out
