Did you see the cheap shot Elias got away with on Ott? Now I must confess that I am no way a Stars' fan nor a Devils fan. but it was ridiculous that Elias got Just 2 minutes. That was a major! I think that the game was played in Jersey Plus it was Elias came into play and it shouldn't have!Shouldn't a cross check that cheap be a major regardless where it happened and who did it?

Hi sarah! Elias and Jersey plus are double dutch to me. Hopefully, a hockey match was played between two teams and some unfair tactics were adopted or some injustice was done. Hope someone (the concerned authorities) takes a note of it and does not repeat the scene in future' Have a nice day! Deepak

Hello my friend. Let me explain. Elias just turned around and crossed checked, which means he took his hockey stick and pushed it into the other guy. He wasn't provoked . and he isn't know for this type of thing . When I saw it I thought he woulud have gotten a harder punishment but he didn't.He was skating for the home team so I really thought something was not right but the way the rules were told to me , the refs got it right.thanks for responding. are you into ice hockey? Are you excited about the Winter Olympics?

Thanks very much for explaining the issue to me. Now it is clear to me that it was a game of ice-hockey and one of the players made infringement. I do not get to see matches of ice-hockey as these are not played in India and as such there is not much interest in winter olympics because India does not participate in it.

I didn't see the shot, but was the recipient bleeding? If he wasn't bleeding and Elias got a 2 minute penalty then he didn't get away with anything. In the case of penalties like that, it's only a 4 minute major if the person who's been hit is bleeding. If the refs decide that it was way out of line then they might go for an unsportsmanlike conduct which could have 5 minutes, 10 minutes or even ejection from the game. But it obviously wasn't bad enough for them to decide it warranted that. But like I said, in the standard on ice offenses (cross checking, high sticking, tripping, hooking, etc) the only way a person is going to get a 4 minute major is of the other person is left bleeding as a result.

Thanks. No he wasn't bleeding but it was still vicious. It was a surprise to see. I don't think of Elias as a goon.

Must have been a real viscous hit! I didn't see it, but I'm sure I'll catch it on the sportscast reruns later tonight or early tomorrow. But considering the reputation of Ott, and that he was on the receiving end, the refs must have thought that he'll get his way on the next go around.

One would think so Sarah, if the wings had done it it would have been a 5 minute major!! A few minutes ago Maltby got 2 for goalie interference and Brookbank is the one that threw Maltz into Hiller, I couldn't believe the refs missed that part of the collision.
