running with scissors...

My mom always said not to run with scissors in my hand I'd put my eye out! Anyone know anyone that this really happened to? (I'm not suggesting that we should run with scissors in our hand!
)However, I don't know of anyone who ever got hurt. Now, the only person I know who got their eye put out was Samson. He didn't run with scissors in his hand, he just cut his hair! What other things has mama said that may be true, but doesn't seem to happen! (ha! Maybe it's because mama warned us!)

My mom use to say if you cross your eyes they will stay that way. Another one was if you make funny faces your face would stay that way. If you don't wear your hat,gloves, and boots you will end up getting really sick. I really don't know of anyone that got so sick from not wearing your hat and gloves. In fact most of my adult like I have not worn a hat and I have to say I have been pretty healthy.In fact I don't remember the last time I was sick. Thank GOD!

I hear ya! Makes you wonder where all those saying came from to begin with! Just because one person was hurt with scissors, doesn't mean that even though my mom reminds me to think about running with them by saying, "DOn't run with the scissors" I didn't get hurt either. My eyes never stuck crossed either!! lol!

Years ago my son had a t-shirt that said Runs with scissors, he was that kind of a boy..always into something..but no he never got hurt.And I don't remember him ever really doing that either. I do know a woman that was using scissors when she was a kid and her brother was running behind her, fell into her, and she was stabbed by scissors..she was sitting down however.
Let's see..my face has never frozen into some goofy pose I chose to take..and I once ate my entire lunch before swimming and I didn't drown.

lol!Never been hurt with scissors, had cramps from eating before i swim or had the face freeze thing happen either!!! lol!

Yeah, your mom is right! you must not run with the scissors in your hand, only if you are not a kamikadze! It can be very dangerous if you fall down

I know it's true, but to this day I do not know anyone personally who got injured by carrying scissors around! I don't know anyone who knows anyone personally who got injured running with scissors!

You topic reminded me of an episode of Cheers. Frasier was tired of playing by the rules and never getting anywhere, in his effort to rebel he grabbed a pair of scissors and hollered, "Look, I'm running with scissors!"
