Ok I don't really know whether a babaco is a fruit but it grows on a tree so maybe it is. It starts off green but ripens yellow. My dad sayd he scoops it out and eats it, but I didn't like the taste doing that with it. I'm wondering if anyone knows what else you can do with it. It's pictured below. Also where is it originally from because I know they don't usually grow here.

The babaco is presumed to have originated in the central south highlands of Ecuador. Here in the Philippines we call it Papaya. It taste good. Well my trip is I pour condense milk on it, then scoop it out and eat.... yummy!

thanks very much for that! I thought a papaya was a bit different? Do you eat a babaco when its yellow and really ripe? Do you eat all the seed things do? Do you think it's strange that we found one growing here in New Zealand? I love your kitty photo!
