Ok I don't really know whether a babaco is a fruit but it grows on a tree so maybe it is. It starts off green but ripens yellow. My dad sayd he scoops it out and eats it, but I didn't like the taste doing that with it. I'm wondering if anyone knows what else you can do with it. It's pictured below. Also where is it originally from because I know they don't usually grow here.

thanks very much for that! I thought a papaya was a bit different? Do you eat a babaco when its yellow and really ripe? Do you eat all the seed things do? Do you think it's strange that we found one growing here in New Zealand?
I love your kitty photo!
