A friend of mine recently bought an iphone from the net, which it was second - hand phone; and he paid it around $150. What a good deal! This phone was unlock when he bought it; so he simply insert the Sim card from his old cell to this iphone to receive and make calls. One catch though, he didn't want to sign up a data plan to be able to surf the web. I told him what a waste of an iphone if it couldn't surf the web. Oh well, maybe he was just curious how iphone look like and he simply want to have his hand on it.

I usually do not access the internet from my mobile phone, and if I am able to get an I phone for $150, I will certainly go for it, even if it is the old 2G model.I would be very happy with the other applications in the I phone. I think your friend has got the best deal.

I guess that he was just curious about how iphone look like, and he wants to take a look at it. Then he purchased one online without signing up with a data plan. I understand he just want to saving some money from the monthly phone bill.

eheh in reality i always saw iphone as an ipod touch enabling phone calls so in reality the price is to expensive and yes considering major functionalities you cna even work offline too without a problems or link to an hotspot using wi-fi!!

I just bought an iphone and the man told me that unless you needed it, it was no use getting the data plan, but I knew that if I wanted to download from itunes and did not have the computer handy, I would need the data.
But then I live in Manitoba the province of the bargain hunters. My phone was locked by the way. I do not intend to do much internet surfing nor do much text messaging, but felt that it would be good to have the data plan and text plan just in case. However the company I deal with or rather the branch I visited had an individual plan that was a starter plan for those who are unsure about how much data one wants. So if he could find a cell phone company who offers a data plan for those who are unsure, it would be a great help.

i don't know about iphone because i never owned one but i think that samrtphoens can be useful even if you would subscribe for a mobile data plans for example?you can search for free hotspot using wi-fi..you can add tethering of your available connection so 1 connection more devices connected..you can also plan your use and so favourite apps and work offline because the majority of these you can work even offline...so it is not so bad..in reality i can undestand your friend because nowadays mobile connection from different providers are really expensive and so in amny cases it can be considered a waste of time!!

That is a good deal for an iphone, but not putting the data plan on it, seems a wasted, as that is the only proper way to use it. I don't have an iphone, but I have seen them so I know a little about them. I won't be able to have an iphone as I am with Verizon. I will probably upgrade later this year to the motorola droid, as I like the looks of the phone. I have watching videos on it online, and it is very impressive. The phone I have has the data plan, but it sure can't do what the iphone can, but I have to deal with it for now. Once I get the droid, it will be able to do what the iphone can, and then some. I would upgrade now, if I hadn't upgraded just a few months ago. I have to wait until summer before i can upgrade, and I most certainly will then, and who knows, there might be a better phone than the droid out there. Take care, and happy mylotting.
