I am traveling in a nearby city with my sister so were totally unknown to the places that we ask a gentleman where are the taxi which bound to the airport. So he courteously give us the direction. He suggested we go to the north as it more faster but then my sister insist that we ride bound to the south road as her friend instruction. So to avoid further arguments I follow her and what a waste of time were caught in the traffic mess. After all the hassles, we finally get to the airport. Unfamiliar with the procedures, we check in and manage to pass the security section. However, when were about to claim our baggage ticket and queuing on line were not allow to go to the departure passenger section, it is then we know that the plane is already set to go. OMG!!..So it only mean that we fail to go at the last minutes. So we need to rebook again at another schedule time, So stupid we felt and the next time we see to it that we leave in our place ahead of the scheduled at least more than 3 hours for enough preparation. Then, as an added embarrassing things happen when were rushing, the flip flop of my sister is damage so she could not walk fast so many interruption... The worst travel I ever had so far... How about you, Do you have any traveling blunder which you remember as something funny and annoying? How did you get over it? Kindly shares your thoughts. thanks. 1-18-10

haha =D YOur sister is kinda stubborn huh?? BUt then again, maybe one should not be too trusting towards a stranger?? hehe ^_^ I guess, it always pays to set off early rather than late as we wont know what will happen and thus cause any delay ^_^ It's better to do nothing, waiting in the airport, as compared to rushing, and yet missing the flight right?? hehe ^_^ My only travelling blunder is that i missed out on my own lugguage, even though it's always on the conveyor belt!! lol =D

yeah, since she insist while on the other hand I regret not following the man instruction when in fact he know better than us as he already a resident of that place. So our mistakes we travel on the wrong routes that suppose to be the fast routes. That the hard lesson we undergo and the next time we plan to travel again we make sure a l the important things is with us and not to forget the essential stuffs such as passport, plane ticket and identification card. Then, we plan to get out of the house by at least 2 or 3 hours in advance so were not going to be caught in traffic and other nuisance. Well, the funny things when I undergo with the final checking I fail to remove my shoes and belt so I repeat all the checking procedures...lol...

those mistakes i experience forgetting my passport and id when i travel that i have to go back to my home. that the things i remember in terms of my daily life when i am going to the near place like in town, i often forget to pay the driver i just ride and then stop the driver do not recognize me he thought i am just a student. so he give me discount but most of the times i manage my schedules without further delay.

hi flower21, yeah, that really a cause of delay since passport is very important, also the plane ticket need to be secured and also the most foremost importance never ever to forget your money when everything is lost you could still go back to rescheduled if you caught up late during your travel..thanks

We have to be early to reach the airport as all airports now have tight security. They need passengers to be there well ahead of time. I have never missed a flight so far. It is unfortunate that you have taken the wrong route and caught in the traffic jam. It is so frustrating to miss the flight due to your mistake and having to buy new tickets for the next flight. What a waste.

hi zandi, That the worst travel plan which lead us to a lot of regrets which taught us a good lesson so the next time we plan our travel. I see to it that all the itinerary are all fix and their would be no confusion. So far we just pay the penalty and on the next day were able to leave. That situation is an eye opener and the first time it happen to us and the next time we know already the rules and make sure to go ahead of the scheduled time so that the same situation would not happen again. thanks.

Okay, okay I'm going to admit something here! Back in 2000 I won a trip to the Olympics in Sydney, Australia (I was allowed to bring one person and I chose my sister). My sister and I first took a plane from where we live (Oklahoma) to the LA airport. So while we're waiting in the terminal for our flight, I get out my instant camera. I don't know if you've ever been in the LA airport, but the thing is enormous, and a lot of people are around. So I get my camera, then say my sister's name. She turns around, I snap the picture (complete with flash because we were inside), and she screams bloody murder! Not only was I laughing, but everybody in that part of the terminal was laughing! My sister was SO mad, but everyone else around there had a pretty good break from the monotony of waiting for their planes.

I never experience such kind. My experience was heavy traffic on the way home. I spend 8 hours of traffic going home after an excursion last year. I read in one blog one traveling blunder story. This man wants to go on a trip. He decided to go to Bicol. He rode a bus on the way to Batangas and ride in a ship. I am not sure if I can still remember the sequence. When he already in the place where he will ride in a small boat, I don't remember the name of the place, when he rode on the ship he vomited because of the wave of the sea. He did not anticipated the long journey going on to Bicol. We he got to a place, he was going to right a jeepney but he asked first how long it will take, then the jeepney driver said something like 8 hours, he already gave up, book a flight using airplane and locked himself inside his room when he arrived home. What a journey!

I am so sorry to hear that you were too late for the plane due to your blunder. I have experienced a couple of times a bit like that. I visited Israel and they have very long lines of travelers waiting for security questions. It is a nightmare to have a personal interview then have a detailed baggage search. I almost missed my flight it took me so long. Another time I was taking my son to Italy. We had to wait ages for London Underground. We arrived later late at the London Station to travel by train to the airport. We had to go thought security and then get on the plane. We arrived without having exchanged any money. That tiny airport didn't have an exchange office. So I had to ask a traveler to exchange a little money. That enabled us to take a local bus. Then at the bank the door wouldn't open because I was holding my handbag. In the end an Italian person explained to me that I would have to place my handbag in a locker.

I've missed flights, but so far it has been due to delays that were beyond my control, like when my flight comes in late and I miss my connecting flight. I did come really late to a flight coming home from Hawaii once and just barely made it on board. That one was my fault, but I didn't miss the flight. Another time I just barely made a flight after there were some changes made to security procedures that slowed things way, way down.

Hello there, I am sorry about the mess you had for your travel this time. It happens, but i think the most important thing is that you shouldn't left those thigns effect the mood of getting one a vacation! Try to control your anger and do anything with joy, that might help you feel better. And do not BLAME your sister, coz you follow her instruction too!

Awww..that sounds like it was a tough day! Glad to hear that you and your sister get on so well that you didn't start arguing. My worst blunder ever was I was traveling on business and I was the one who booked the travel for both myself and my software engineer techie. Getting to the client site went great, we flew out together from the office and I had printed out both of our e tickets so it was all good. However, on the way home, he was going to fly to an airport closer to his home rather than our office. Well we took a cab together to the airport, had a quick bite to eat and I forgot to give him the printout of his e ticket. I was flying on a different carrier than he was so my boarding area was no where near his. He made it to the boarding check in but had to call me at my gate so I could talk to the rep so he could get on the plane! Luckily for me, he's a very sweet fellow and we still laugh about it. He almost got stranded there! So glad that I hadn't turned my cell phone off yet but was close to start boarding so if he called a just 2 or 3 minutes later..he'd have been in trouble to reach me... And he'd have had to buy a ticket on his own to get home again...not one of my better moments!

Yes, i had a similar experience too and this happened about 12 years ago. I was assigned to accompany our consultants to a province where we have a project on women's health. I will be the one to bring the materials they needed because they will conduct a training of doctors and nurses. The materials are still in the office and i agreed with the project manager that i will pick these materials on my way to the airport. The flight is at seven in the morning and i have to be at the airport two hours before. What happened was i woke up late so i left the house two hours before the flight. It took me a long time to get a cab and i was caught in a heavy traffic. I don't know really what to do i was so tense already. The driver of the taxi was an old man and he drives his cab leisurely even if i told him that i have to catch the seven o clock flight. There was no cell phone at that time yet so i told the driver to stop at the nearest store because i will make a call to the office to tell the other office staff to have the office driver bring the materials to the airport instead of me picking it up. Good thing, i was able to catch up with the flight, the materials brought by the driver arrived at the airport ahead of me. The consultants were all glaring at me because they could not check in because i have their tickets with me.When we are checking in already, i was not allowed entry at first because the x-ray found a pair of scissors in my bag. Luckily, the guard at the entrance was my friend and she allowed me to enter the deparure area with that scissors in my bag. It was really a lesson though i am a punctual person but i was so tired the night before due to lots of work in the office.

it happened to me about 10 years ago on my first trip to USA. I mistakenly understood the take-off time on our ticket back to my country, so when we arrived at the airport we were told our flight had gone. I burst into tears, because I finished all my money. Luckily the station manager and a delayed passenger from my country (from another flight)took pity in me and sorted things out, so I can be on the next flight home without paying anything. Wow... that was a great lesson for me, to always double check with the reconfirmation of my bookings.

yeah for some reason my daughter didnt think I needed to get there way early well I had to stay on stand by for the next plane think I ended up on the 2nd one got to where I was going after dark and then had to rent a car for my sister didnt come pick me up. There was snow about 3 foot high on the road sides and when I got to the town I missed my turn I wanted everything looks so different in the snow and dark. Got my brother on the phone and he got me to the hospital which had moved up the road what a hassel . We now make sure we get us and every one else to the airport way ahead of time at least 2 hours.

I have missed a flight due to a series of events going wrong before. It was about 8 years ago and I was in a different state with my wife and two very young children at that time visiting friends and family. It was at the time of year when this state has daylight savings and my home state does not. I set the alarm on my phone to wake us up at 5am , but it did not occur to me that my phone was on normal time and not the daylight savings time which the flight time was on. I realised when we woke up that it was actually 6am, so it was a hurried scramble to get up and into the rental car to get back to the airport on the other side of the city. We had over an hour of driving to get there and we were an hour behind schedule! When we were on the freeway heading to the city, my 2 year old daughter vomited in the car and as we did not have time to stop and clean it, my wife just had to lean back and try to clean it while we were driving. As we left late, we got caught up in the start of the peak Monday morning traffic heading into the city. That slowed us down more, but there was still a chance that we would make the flight. Until we arrived at the airport and found that one lane was blocked completely by airport workers protesting on the road about their pay or something. We could not get through quickly and we missed the flight! The protest turned out to be a blessing because lots of people had missed the flight, so the airline put all of us on a later flight for free. Normally if you miss the flight, you have to pay for a new ticket and that was going to mean hundreds of dollars for us. We got the flight for free but we had to wait around the airport for six hours and the car rental company had already charged us a cleaning fee for the car because we did not have time to clean it.
