The recently refurbished and repaired Hubble Space Telescope has sent pictures of the oldest galaxies that man has ever seen. Supposed to have been created 600 billion to 600 billion years after the Big Bang these galaxies are giving more information of that period when the first galaxies were created. Since they are too far away to be seen visually even from the most powerful and sophisticated telescopes , their images have been captured using infra red technology. The earliest stars in these galaxies are seen shining with a pure bluish light which is an indication of their newness and the presence of Hydrogen and Helium in large quantities. How many more galaxies remain to be discovered is the question as man moves closer and closer to his search for what happened immediately when the ?Big Bang took place and the universe as we see now was first created.Such discoveries leave us in awe of the majesty, grandeur and timelessness of the universe.

I have no real knowledge in regards to astronomy but when I stop and think about the vastness of the universe and what is yet to be discovered, like you, I am in awe. It is beautiful and amazing and when one stops to consider how long these galaxies have been around it is absolutely mind blowing. I am thinking about taking some video footage out of the library or a book or two on the subject. It is fascinating and interesting stuff.

I was never really all that interested in astronomy before I met my husband. However, the last eight years have changed me because of his interest in it. It wasn't too long ago that he and I watched a special about the last repairs that would be made to Hubble and it also showed several of the pictures that it has sent down. It is really amazing to see all of the knowledge that has come into the world from the launch of Hubble. What I hate is to know that it is soon going to be abandoned.

Hi dorannmwin,i don`t know about Hubble being abandoned but i do know that a new, better and more powerful telescope will soon be sent into outer space which will bring to us more and improved pictures of the most distant and earlies galaxies that were created after the Big Bang.I am glad to know that your husband is interested in astronomy and that you too got interested in it through him. Please convey my warmest regards to him and tell him that he has found a new brother in the astronomical family.
