Thoughts are Truly Things.

I am sure, as a thinker, as a personal development student/master, as a innocent bystander you have heard these words before. "Thoughts are Things" Spoken in sincerity, and you may or may not have believed them. I don't think I will be able to change anybody's believes today, but I thought I would share a revelation I had earlier this morning as I was reading one of the many books that fill my spare time. I was reading Napoleon Hills' 1937 Classic "Think and Grow Rich" He opens by saying thoughts are things, and this is true, a thought is a thing, it is even a noun in the dictionary. They are there, they are real, and everything that is in the world today, started out as a thought in someones mind. Your breakfast, your house, your car, your child, YOU, your table, EVERY thing started out as a thought. So, I was reading along and kept that in mind, and I came across a line in the book that screamed at me from the page (almost literally) you know the feeling when, you are reading, watching TV, listening to Music, or whatever, and you hear something, and maybe it is the first time, maybe it is the 5 millionth time, it just Speaks to the you that is inside of you, and you get a deeper meaning from it. THAT is what I am talking about. The line was "Success comes to those who create a success conscious" We, ourselves and only us, are in control of our thoughts, and in the long run, really, that is all that we have complete and utter control over, please argue this point with me, I desire to pick it apart and reassemble it. Of all the things that are thrown into our minds, we choose what to dwell on and how to dwell on it. We chose the way we think, we chose what we think of and when, and What we think about happens. Some people would say "Nothing is impossible" and Others would say "Anything is Possible" What do you think? Is nothing impossible or is any thing possible? Do you believe saying this one way has the same effect as saying it the other? If we take the time, to control our thoughts, to push out the ones that hinder us and develop the ones the help us, just imagine what we could accomplish. Thank you for your time, I appreciate you.

That is something almost everyone needs to work on. So many people have bad self esteem or think little of themselves because their thoughts tell them to! You spend all day putting yourself down, so even if someone else compliments you, you won't believe it, because you yourself don't think it's true. It's the same with anything, if you think you're ugly, you'll feel ugly. If you think you won't be successful, then you won't be. Nobody else can motivate you, or change your mind. You have to do it for yourself. As far as the self esteem goes, I was reading an article in a magazine that said to give your negative thoughts their own little identity. Imagine your negative thoughts being a naggy little annoying person. Then learn to start talking back to those naggy thoughts. Disprove them, argue with them, whatever you have to do. By giving them their own identity, you'll be less likely to believe them about yourself (especially if it's an unlikable identity), and by talking back you'll begin to start thinking more positively about yourself.

I'm not sure if we'd been taught that in school, but I know forsure I hadn't ever heard it put that way until I read the article.

Perfect excellent, Awesome Wonderful. I especially like the part about talking back, and arguing with your negative thoughts, and this is exactly what needs to be shared with countless teenagers, did they not teach this in school? Or did we all collective just think the teachers were full of it? I don't really know. The thoughts that dominate your mind, determine your reality. I appreciate you, katsmeow.

Hi, CJ! I much prefer the positive, so anything is possible to me. I don't doubt that for a minute!

Awesome, and the point is anything is possible for anyone so long as they believe and keep their thoughts more on what they want, rather then what they would rather avoid. I appreciate you.

Thanks. It's mutual. Someone told me long ago not to mourn the loss of wonderful things, but to celebrate the moments they were with me, and that positive ideal has stuck!

Thoughts are certainly things, and Nothing is impossible! That we have control over our thoughts is not a point I can argue, but will share an experience in bringing a thought to fruition. I have always been a steam buff. My early life involved several train trips across Canada, via steam locomotive. As I've grown older I've been reading about, admiring, and looking at pictures of Steam Tractors. Although these antiques are very expensive to buy, operate, and maintain, I began to suggest to myself that I would (could) be a proud owner. I didn't go so far as to ask exclusively for such, but rather held a firm thought, that this was my desire, and to this end, I kept a thankful heart. Some time passed, before I found myself in a car dealership, with a hybrid auto sitting in the show room, sporting a sticker price that was meant for me. This car was gas-electric with no starter,no keys, no ignition, no gearbox, and a stick on the dash that indicated forward or reverse. (just like a steam engine)This car sat in my garage for several weeks before it dawned on me that my dream had come true. I just love this car, and I have all the proof I need that nothing is impossible, and thoughts are things!

I am a fan of this post CJ. It makes me think about the lyrics of a song I've recently heard by a band called Kutlass. The lyric I'm thinking of is in a song called That's what faith can do. It goes: It doesn't matter what you've heard, impossible is not a word.

Although I can't say that I have actually thought about it that way in the past, you are absolutely correct in saying that thoughts are things. Now I am always going to think of it in those kinds of terms and like you have said from the book, there is nothing that I won't be able to accomplish. The main thing that I want to accomplish with my life is to be debt free by the time I am 40, that is just over ten years off. My husband and I have a solid plan in place to be able to do it, and now we just have to keep our minds to it.

I am most happy to share most anything with most anybody. Teaching others gives me joy, I am not always right, and I am often argued with, but they are all just thoughts in the end, and in the beginning, I just want to share the joy, and the paths to joy, start with our thoughts. I appreciate you.
