Is chi running any good?

I have seen a few things about a technique called chi running. It is supposed to be less impact on your joints but I cant find an awful lot about it. I get quite achy knees sometimes when we have been running long distances and I am hoping to try out this technique to see if it is an improvement. Is this the same as pose running where you sort of circle with your feet as you run so you are hardly putting any weight on them ?

I actually do believe pose and chi running are two different techniques. My local library doesn't have any information on either so I haven't gotten my extensive research in this winter as I had hoped. I believe one concentrates on lifting your knees high while the other concentrates on lifting your feet back, though I'm honestly not sure. I also believe both concentrate on a mid to fore foot strike which are important in barefooting.

Yes the mid foot strike sounds right. I have been practicing the lifting the feet back thing and it is not that hard. We have snow again so I have to wait till its gone for more practice. I found a thing online about pose with some little video clips to see how its done and it is about minimizing the amount of time your feet actually remain in contact with the ground. There is quit a lot about pose on you-tube but not very much at all about chi.

I think chi running is the same as pose running. I was at an expo once where someone was giving a lecture on chi running, but unfortunately I didn't really pay a whole lot of attention. It seems like it often goes along with barefoot running, so maybe our forum barefooter will comment. I usually just try backing off on weekly mileage a little and then building back up again if I get pains.

Thanks Pigglies! I looked at pose running online ,which seems like you sort of bob along but lean into the run and I think that does help a bit with knee ache but it is always good to know about different techniques.
