I usually don't even try instant coffees. However, yesterday I was at a new friend's house and was offered some coffee. I said sure and then saw that it was instant. The funny thing was that it was really good! I actually liked it a lot! I have heard that instant coffee is bad for you.. is it? If it is what is harmful??

i don't really think it's harmful to take instant coffee... well, not that i researched about it, but because we've been taking a lot of it and we haven't had any problems about it.. ^_^ i think any form of coffee in any way it was made, it's still good! hehe

Most instant coffee is nasty. But I found a brand that is really good. I only have a cup of it each day but it's still coffee!!

I know an instant coffee that is not bad for health, actually good for health. It contains immune boosting herbal mushrooms and low in caffeine content, only 0.06%. Some people here in our place use it to fight cancer since cancer is related to lowered capability of our immune cells to fight cancer cells. I'm drinking the herbal instant coffee at the rate of 5-6 times a day!

That sounds good, but does it taste good? That's my problem with drinking teas. They taste okay and I enjoy a cup or two here and there, but I don't like them well enough to consume larger amounts of the ones that i need! (like Ginger!)

I use a drip coffee maker most of the time. I don't usually like instant varieties. But the one I tried the other day was really good!

Instant coffee is still pure coffee, and certainly not bad for you...no more than regular ground coffee might be. The only difference between the two, is that in the making of instant coffee, nearly all of the water has been removed. There is no chemical alteration whatsoever going on. Two methods are used to make instant coffee crystals. One is by freeze-drying, the other is by spray-drying, basically determining the process in which the water is evaporated. The first one is self explanitory. Ice crystals are allowed to evaporate in their own time. The second method sprays water onto the coffee and is then allowed to evaporate. Then once again, it is sprayed with hot water from a high tower into a large hot aired chamber. By doing so, it forms the coffee crystals into a concentrate. Since the second method uses such high temperatures, it basically removes most or all of the oils from the coffee, thereby losing most of the coffee's natural flavor. But bad for you? No. It's still coffee...just manufactured a little differently, is all. Drinking too MUCH coffee, is probably what might be bad for you...instant or brewed. cdrxo
