Do you ever give yourself compliments?

In the past I was afraid of needles. However through some training I managed to drop my fear to a level I can handle and needles are less of a problem now. And believe me I can handle a lot of fear, I'm used to it, so it says something about how afraid I was prior. The thing is that I was reading a post here in mylot about someone who is afraid of needles. And I was like: "Yeah, I have that too". Just in my head I thought like that. But wait... I forget something... I'm not so afraid for needles anymore. So my question is do you ever give yourself compliments AND what do you forget earlier: negative or positive experiences?

So are you saying that you compliment yourself because you got over the fear of needles? My mom is so scared of needles she starts to cry in the doctor office. I am used to needles. I get blood take all thetime for tests and my birth control is a shot. They do not bother me. I don't look at them though. If I had to look they would bother me. I really do try to compliment myself to keep a positive attitude in life.

Yeah I did compliment myself for reaching my goal. One weird thing though is that forgetting positive experiences is easier than negative experiences. I'm curious what makes it that we assign more value to the negative things than the positive? As for your mum, little steps is the trick. Ask the doctor whether she can hold the needle in her hand and experiment with it. Maybe administering some water in an apple or a tomato ( don't administer too much water or the tomato will explode :P) very quickly with her hands close to the needle as she advances, to summon the fear. I also dragged the needle over my skin, anything that summons fear is great, after that just let the fear drop by affirmations. The fear will drop after a while, and during the process of taking blood she can listen to some music and look back at the positive experiences. I did it like that and it worked like a charm.

I do not remember to speak nicely to myself as often as I should.I am glad you are getting over your fear of needles. It is good to say those positive things to yourself so you can hear them and internalize them. It takes about ten positives to make up for a negative in your life.

What do you remember easier. Negative or positive experience? For me they're negative experiences but I've learned through positive affirmations and experiences that you can overcome such things. Not only was I suffering from fear of needles but also an anxiety disorder.
