I think its just a fad. Well, fads do really attract a lot of people, but they quickly die down. I have never been too hot for fads most especially if it's too expensive for its quality. I could remember a few years back when the happy feet types of bakya slippers were a fad
, many of my friends ended up having toes bigger than they used to. Hehehe.. due to the 'freedom' those happy feet gave a person's toes, the toes tended to open up, thus they really got problems when they wore closed or strap-shoes. hehehe..
Anyhow, I just don't see the point in Havianas. Their physical look doesn't really stand out, yes they're lighter and the rubber is of 'quality' but still at the end of the day, they're still rubber slippers.
I don't know too about the shoes they're trying to innovate on.
But still it boils down to preference. I never could really appreciate fad for feet since I like my feet neat and clean and callous free and I do avoid slippers to keep them so.

i think havaianas fever started as a fad,but when a lot of people have tried to use it and was satisfied with the comfort and quality it gives,it attracts more of the users.you are not just paying the brand or the name of the slippers but more so is the durabitiy and comfort it gives.

Is it really worth it spending as much as $20 for just a simple pair of slippers? Wherein in anyways, you can even buy a $1 slippers? Or is it because if you have this slippers here in the Philippines, you are being considered as one of the 'elites'? Is it true?

that's what in the minds of the people when they see someone wearing havainas, but when imitations brand was available in the market,it seems like an ordinary slipper which everybody could afford to have.but still, though the price of the original is too high from the imitation one,i would still go for the original.the comfort and the durability of the brand is really worth the price you are paying.

Interesting! Never heard of them...here in the US there was a huge "Crocs" fad for a long time..but I think they quit making them now..Twenty dollars isn't much for shoes though...I'm interested in seeing what they look like now :)

that's what i also heard that the brand is not really known in the US.actually,it originates from Brazil and what we have here in the Philippines are imported already ,which makes the price quiet high than the ordinary brands of slippers we have. you can check for the styles on the net,and they are even available on line.
