am i too soft?

i was and i am given the responsibility to be the head of our molecular laboratory. and in this laboratory, there are almost 10 people who were working. working in such a case that sometimes they neglect maintaining the laboratory rules and conditions. there was a time when the laboratory smelled so bad. and yet, i still have the soft heart and lend them the keys.. but somehow, others had commented that what i was doing was wrong.. they don't take heed of my call for them to clean up and maintain and follow the laboratory rules.. am i being too soft?.. huhu. i am just filled up right now.. wrrr.. what should i do then?

Some people were meant to be leaders and others were meant to be not leaders. I am a soft hearted person and alot of times I am used or walked on because of my kind heart. If I were you I would look at it like a job your the boss. You have to put your foot down and make them listen to you. Because with you being head of the lab it reflects back on you how it looks and how it is ran. So if you feel this is not something you can do then you should relinquish your right as head of the lab. all though it would look much better on you if you were to step up and put your foot down. It shows great leaders skills and can look great on a resume for a job!

thank you!. i just read your reply. and you really have a point there. i just don't find it easy spelling out your name. hehe. but what just shared is really nice. i really have to stand up and lay down the cards to them. somehow, they had just gotten over the place. and maintenance of the said lab is being neglected. and it really shows to me how it was being managed. thank you!
