Have you ever reported someone missing or known someone missing? Did you just somehow 'know' it was different than if they just left to go to work or the store or was it the length of time they were gone or silent that tipped you off?
Did they return or are they still technically 'missing'?

Several yrs ago the sister of a very good friend of mine went missing..Everyone KNEW it wasnt a matter of her just goin off and not telling anyone where especially since her brother (my friend) was babysitting for her that night...they found part of her body 6 or 7 days later dumped behind an old abandoned dept. store in town....she'd been raped, beaten, murdered and dismembered...
I've been reported missing a few times back when I was a street kid...but it was just that I had gone off to wherever and nobody could find me in town (I'd completely left the area)

I had a colleague who has been missing for over a year. He was a brainy guy. I have known him since university. He was also brainy but taciturn and likes to be on his own. He had a serious of flops when it comes to dating. And some terrible stories of harassing his ex girlfriends etc took place. He seemed to have mental problems, suffering from a depression. He was thrown into our school with all these problems. We have tried to help him as much as possible. He created some problems to the female colleauges where he even harassed two of them. Unfortunately one fine day about a year ago he did not turn up for work and he has been reported missing ever since. If he was still alive he would have been already found in a small island like Malta.

thank goodness i have never known anyone to go missing. i think that would be the worst torture there is not knowing and waiting and hoping with possible horrible results or no results at all.. i wonder how those families do it??

Back in the 80's I had a cousin missing. She was last seen on the day after Christmas. She had a daughter (toddler) at that time. And it was unlike her to go away and stay and not get in touch with her mother who was keeping the toddler for her. She had remarried and her husband was in the military stationed in Texas.
As I stated she was last seen December 26. And in February her body was found. Her husband had murdered her and left the state. Instead of going back to Texas he went up North somewhere. He went A.W.O.L. Her body was found 3 days before her birthday which was February 6. She was 31 years.
He is in prison now. And every time he goes up for parole the family is there, speaking on behalf of my cousin. Her daughter is now an adult and living in Atlanta, Georgia.
