Rangel refuses to step down

United States

Heck personally I think this man needs to do more than just "step down" from his chair as head of the ways and means committee. I think he should have to step down altogether and give up washington. For those of you who may not have heard....get got caught taking corporate funded trips (more than one) to the Caribean. A big NO NO. Members on both sides are calling for him to step down for his chairmanship....but not calling for him to fully resign. Rangel says he is not going to step down and he is not resigning. What do you think?

He should but who is going to make him? Rangel also evaded taxes, but is the chairman of the committee that oversees tax laws. The bad thing is I bet you that he will be reelected.

You better believe it, this guy could commit murder and they would still vote for him. We had a representative in Ohio that didn't spend a day in the state in 2 years, every time he had time off it was spent somewhere nice on the dime of the accounting industry. Yet, every election year he would win in a landslide, even though he was rarely ever there, he continued to win.

That is exactly what is WRONG with our voters. They will vote a crook back in. He does not belong in politics. He needs to be run out of town. Hopefully someone runs against him in the primary and the general....and he looses.

This is only part of Charlie Rangel's problems. He's got tax evasion yet to answer for. Not only should he step down, he should resign and try to fade into the background out of shame. I think it's really funny how they proved that his staffers knew who paid for the trips, but he claims he didn't. I guess if he didn't know that someone else paid for it, he must have thought he did? How do you think you paid for something?

He knew. Or at least he should have known. I don't believe he did not know. He needs to step down. If not they need to force him to step down.

It's because he is a democrat. If it was a republican senator who did it they would be crucified.

A crook is a crook..It does not matter what "side" he is on.

True. Both sides should take responsibility for their transgressions but it seems there is such a double standard when holding members of each party to accountability.

I think that he should step down from the committee, and from office. If you break the rules than you shouldn't be representing anyone. But, just like Mark Sanford, we put things in context, and find some kind of insane logic in allowing them to remain in office. I say force him out, along with Mark Sanford!

I think he should step down too. But I don't see it happening. As for Sanford....the only reason he is still in office is because EVERYONE hates the LT. Governor. Both sides. NO ONE wants him to become the governor. Sanford can't run again due to term limits so at the end of his term he is done. Sangel will probly get re-elected. Which is beyond wrong.

Rangel needs to step down. It's hard being a Congressman from jail, where he belongs.

He should step down and then go straight to jail for tax evasion. Leslie Snipes did.
