I have a question which I hope will be answered by doctor members here or by anyone who knows the answer. Does Vitamin C or ascorbic acid "kill" other vitamins or medicine when taken together? I heard that vitamin c should be taken separately and not along with other medicines or vitamins because it can kill the value of other medicines. How true is this? If this is true, then when is the best time to take vitamin c---how many hours before or after taking another medication? I am really wondering about this and I hope that you have the answers to my questions.

I wouldn't say it 'kills' it but it can affect the amount of absorption. Vitamin C is part of my vitamin regimen. You should wait at least an hour between Vitamin C and others, like multivitamins and especially Calcium. Also, taking iron at the same time as Vitamin C will help it absorb better as well.

Thanks for the information. At least an hour between vitamins is good enough.
