Marketing your articles online

To all the freelance writers out there, how do you market your articles online? Do you use Twitter, Facebook, or other forms of social networks? Do you post links of your articles on Digg and Stumbleupon? Do you submit your articles in article repositories and cross your fingers while hoping that they become 'viral' over time? Personally, I've tried marketing my articles using Twitter and so far, I've only made a few cents. I guess my 200+ followers is still not enough to bolster my earnings. I want to know how others are making lots of money using these marketing techniques. Maybe there's a secret out there somewhere. :)
