I have not read this, and in fact, just now found out that it existed, and for that, I say thank you! I happen to adore Joe Strummer - I think he was so talented, and let's not forget gorgeous! And The Clash is one of my favorite bands. Soo good. I'm also an English major. So this sounds like a fantastic combination. I will have to make sure to read it.

I definately recommend it. Its by Chris Salewicz. He actually wrote Bob Marley's biography too.. which I will have to pick up. He has worked and written about popular culture for a long time. He actually met and interviewed Strummer many times. He's got some great first hand accounts.

I fell in love with him many years ago, around the Combat Rock era!
I was too young to see The Clash live but had the pleasure of seeing him with the Latino Rockabilly War + the Mescaleros a few times, as well as interviewing him for various charity publications. A truly awesome guy, one of the few gentlemen of the punk era. So many years on the world is a poorer place without him, and I still find his music uplifting and intriguiging.

I'm never much into reading, except for magazines and papers.. lol =D There are times, i'm actually wondering.. There are so many books available, how do one choose what they wanna read??
Even if it's being caterogorized into one's interest, there are still 100s of books to choose from, and it's a trial and error to determine which is good?? hehe
