This month in the Philippines is the Fire Prevention month and El NiƱo supposed to start this month but rather it started early. The SUN is very HOT. It is over 39 or more degrees here. Fires are already starting and etc.. What really is bugging me is that MOSQUITOES are everywhere. Yes and I mean everywhere. I thought it would be that hot to keep them away. It added more when I go to sleep at night. This is unbelievable. I don't see this much mosquitoes in hot days. Usually they go out in rainy days. What could be the cause?

I can't begin to explain what the cause is in this change concerning the behavior of mosquitoes, but I can tell you that I certainly noticed it last year. I couldn't even go out on my back deck for five minutes any time of the day or night and I was completely eaten by mosquitoes. This year it is still too early in the year to tell how they are going to be as we have just now had a series of a couple of days that have been above freezing, but I'm hoping that they aren't nearly as bad as they were last year.

I am not sure, unless maybe it's their mating season. I think it's either when it's hot or also when it is raining as well that causes the mosquitoes to come out. We generally use off bug spray to keep them away.

Well I think in my place it hasn't reach the 39 yet but it is hot indeed everywhere. I am actually missing the rains which I really hated last year after we were being flooded now the rains have disappeared and extreme dry season is at hand. As to mosquitoes in your place try looking around if you have stagnant waters around your place which could be breeding places for mosquitoes.

first, i don't think we already reached 39 here in cebu, though i think that cebu is much hotter than any other places in luzon or in mindanao. maybe it feels like 39 though. i guess mosquitoes is really everywhere. though it may be hot or cold weather. mosquitoes lay eggs in stagnant water, mostly. so you keep the water containers always closed and keep the surroundings always clean.

its hot here in Malaysia too .. but not till 39 or i am not counting .. i had to fix an additional air-cond for my room so that i can get peaceful sleep .. mosquitos breed at all tempreature as long as they get to lay their eggs in the waters .. make sure all your windows are closed at all times to avoid this insects from coming into your home cheers

Oh really?, the temperature there reached 39 degrees? OMG! that's so hot! Here in Manila it's just around 34 to 36 degrees and yet I felt burning hot! I thought it's cooler there in your place. About the mosquitoes, try cleaning your surroundings and spray some mosquito spray which are readily available in supermarkets. It's better that you clean up and put some window screens so mosquitoes can't get in. One of the alarming diseases this summer is dengue fever, so better watch out!
