how do you feel about comparing players from different era?

hi friends.the famous Sir Gary Sobers said its is hard to compare players of different eras but thats what we have been doing here at mylot for a long time now.
you can compare and tendulkar to a ponting or brain lara because they are from the same era but comparing tendulkar to the Don is altogether a different matter as there is a difference in playing and bowling conditions.
what do you think?

Yes I agree with you compare Don with Sachin is very unfair.. People do love to compare players but each player has his own style. Comparing them is very silly, may be if records are broken then obviously people love to compare with past legends.. May be comparing is a disease..

ya its correct, comparing two different players that too from different era is not good.
don and sachin bothare greats of their time.
