Attatched is a photo of the new Honeywell programable thermostat my son-in-law recently installed. The old one I had was so old that the wiring was not even color coded. Just 2 white wires. So after trying to figure things out he callled a professional and got the right wiring process to hook it up. So this is programable to 6 different times if I wish. It is excellent too. Prior to this one, when the heater kicked in it would turn off right at the set temp when it got there. So it was on and off way too much when it was cold outside. This one runs maybe 75% less than the old one and it's still as warm in the house. So I know I'll be saving money on my gas bill each winter from using this thermostat. It can also be used for central air. I wished I had central A/C. HAHAHA! Now, do you have a prgramable thermpostat in your house? If so, do you have it set for different temps at various times? Or set to one temp all the time? As always..... HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Ha! If I were to get a new thermostat, my apartment complex would get a very very cheap one. The one I have broke down twice last year. Since they don't pay my electricity bill, they don't care what kind of thermostat I have, just so it works and it won't get them in trouble with any inspectors.

I lived in an apartment once where the heating unit had been installed wrong. It developed a CO2 leak and the complex got cited when the person who was called to repair it reported them.

Grandpa Bob, yes I have electrical heating. Everything is electric, appliances and all. The last guy who came to repair my heater looked like a guy I saw on the side of the street with a carboard sign saying 'will work for food.' He was a very nice guy, but it took him two times to get it fixed correctly. Sad to say, this past Christmas Eve was when it went out again, and it was out for five days. That happens to be the time period where we had the blizzard! hee hee

Great, it just doesnt only save you money but it also saves energy usage and therefore prevent more polution. (i know gas is better than many other sources)

no,we just have a manual one-and i do often end up turning it up and down. this week i've had to juggle it around as it's been a surprising 50 out. i've been debating whether switching over would be good for this house.

My windows are 50 years old and not very draft proof so this helps a lot actually. Should do good for your house as well I think. As always..... HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Mine is not a programmable one. I have one of the older ones that has a little thing on the side that you push up and down and it is really hard to tell where you actually have the thing set. I have to adjust it all the time.

hi Grandpa Bob I wish we had one of those p rogrammable ones here in our retirement center, I think what they have is at least fourty years old and in the last few days at night it got cold here they never turned the heat on. I think this place must be making good money as they sure cut corners onf heat and cooling and on food too. In the summer they wait til 7pm then turn on the air conditioningso our room was freezin at night and hot during the day. as I say they love to cut costs and corners too. lol.

You will be excited, nay thrilled, to know that my husband once worked at (but not for) Honeywell, running their employee cafeteria. We had a Honeywell thermostat in the last house, not sure about this one. But we regulate the heating and air conditioning based on day, time of day, whether we are home or away, etc. It works very nicely...

Many, many moons ago, Grandpa Bob worked for a subsidary of Honeywell called CDC, Control Data Corp. I built what was known back then as desktop computers. They were as large as a big console TV. And this was back in the mid 70's when computers were all huge. As always..... HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I don't have a programmable thermostat. If it runs 75% less than the old one than you ll end up saving on your gas or electricity bills. I don't have central heating at home. I have gas heaters and even a fireplace at home.

Sadly i dont have a programmable thermostat. That would make mornings a bit nicer to get out of bed if i did! and i wouldnt have to worry when i left for work that it wasnt turned down it could turn itself down! i typically leave mine set to 18c when im not home and at night if im up and about i turn it up to room temp.
