This is a photo of one of my 6 acorn squash seedlings this year. All are getting huge and doing well. I bake mine for the most part. Slice them in half cleaning the seeds etc out. A dab of butter and some brown sugar. Baked at 350 degrees until soft. Tastiest way I've ever eaten them. Any ideas for other ways to make acorn squash? As always..... HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!`

Hey Grandpa Bob! I love acorn squash! I'm going to have to stop reading your discussions about food when I'm starving! I have never made them baked before! And with butter and brown sugar! Now that sounds like something to die for! Now that is something else that I need to try! I love squash! I so wish I could get them from a garden instead of having to pay a fortune for them in the grocery store where they aren't even worth the price! I love zucchini and squash and buy them mostly in the Summer, but they are pretty expensive here in NY and not really that tasty! But, I am now going to have to try making the acorn squash the way you do and I know that I am going to love it!

I have been known to stuff my squash. Either with sausage and stuffing or rice, or you can chop nuts, apples and raisins and load up the middle of that squash when you put in the butter and brown sugar. People who do not eat squash just do not know what they are missing.

Yep, cut it in half, clean out the seeds and put the already cooked sausage and stuffing in it, or put apples, walnuts, raisins and brown sugar in it. Bake it till tender.

This sounds quite unusual to me. I'm not familiar with acorn squash. Is the consistency like pumpkin or like zuchhini? The brown sugar with butter obviously sweetens it - does that make it a dessert type food? We just have regular squash boiled as a side veggie...quite yummy with just a little pepper and salt and if not over cooked.
