2 head lines in a row - NY TIMES CEO paid $4.9 MILLION in 2009... NY TIMES cuts 150 jobs; 8% of newsroom... http://drudgereport.com/ I do not begrudge anybody a fair salary and I do not think that the government should determine pay. But come on, how many could they have paid with that kind of money.

I don't believe in any CEO bonuses, when the organization you're managing is laying off workers. It's an insult to the people who are being layed off and to those who continue to work.

I agree. I have known a lot of ceos and the majority that I know do NOT make the company. They would have run just fine with out them

The CEO should be paid base salary and a Bonus based on how well the company does. The bonus could be partially in stock in the company then the CEO has an incentive to run the company in a responsible manner. It might be nice to give the employees some stock so they have an interest in how well the company does.

The same thing can be said of athletes in the world of football, actors in entertainment. I do believe that their huge salary is obscene. Most of them receive a gross salary that even if they had to live 100 lives x 100 times they will not be able to spend that amount of money. I do think that life is not fair. If we were more considerate of each other and there was more a just distribution of wealth, poverty would be eradicated in the whole world
