What does smoking do to the fetus?

When people smoke, bad things happen to them health wise but what about when their pregnant. When you drink while carrying a child, the development can be detroyed or interupted and the child can have lasting effects - is it similar with smoking?

Well smoking affects the internal reproductive organs as nicotine is harmful one. And it affects the baby growth.

For sure it's not safe for the fetus, but also for you if you're a smoker. I've read that the weight of the fetus decreases almost 200 gr and that the lack of oxygen may cause metabolic problems...
