http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/03/25/biden-health-care-wouldve/ Although President Obama repeatedly said he had no idea how health care politics would play out, Vice President Joe Biden told a fundraising audience Wednesday the White House would have been doomed without it. Doomed with it doomed with out it. What do you think? I think either way they are doomed. I can't think of much to save face here. Another little fun fact of the article - Biden said Obama told him at Wednesday's presidential briefing: "You know what the best thing about yesterday was? Joe's comment." Obama told Biden he tried to have a T-shirt with his "BFD comment" on it, but couldn't have it ready in time (who knew a president can't get a T-shirt made in one day?)

I don't think they're doomed at all but if they hadn't gotten health care reform passed that would have been big trouble for the Administration and for the Democrats in Congress. I know most everyone here disagrees with me but I honestly believe that and I think the tide is starting to turn now in a big way. That's not to say the Democrats won't have any losses in November, the party in power always do especially in the first midterm election of a President's term. I just don't think it's going to be as apocalyptic as some were predicting a weeks ago. Annie

I agree not apocalyptic, but I think there will be more changes than possibly you do. Lets just sit back, watch both parties self destruct.... pass the popcorn?

That sounds like a plan! It's going to be fun to watch no matter how it all plays out. Extra butter, please! Annie

I heard one Democrat say after their meeting with Obama earlier this month, that Obama stressed the importance of passing the health care bill as it related to saving Obama's presidency. I think the push to pass it at all costs was definitely to save Obama from becoming powerless so early in his presidency. As lil pointed out, neither side is happy with this bill. The majority of Americans don't want it, the far left doesn't think it goes far enough, the pro-life people aren't satisfied by an executive order than can be rescinded at any time... the bill makes no one happy. I don't remember the last time any bill passed with support from members of one party only. But even though bipartisanship was just a buzz word, it's only a small part of what is lacking. They put through this bill with the full knowledge that it is in direct opposition to the will of the people. Yeah, that is a BFD alright.

lol well said. I agree with all points you cite. I would add to it those of us that are against it due to our Constitution, keeping government small and in check and not MANDATING that citizen purchase a certain item

That is funny. Or rather Biden's comment was. And Obama is probly right about it being the best part of yesterday. I had no idea that Obama could not get a shirt printed in one day. Guess being president has it limitations. Obama has it rough right now...but congress has it worse. True a lot of people are happy. But there are a lot ticked off. I know Michael Moore put out a statement pretty ticked that we did not pass a single payer system. So you have poeple mad because htey did not want the bill. People mad they did not get a single payer system. Lots of mad people out there.
