Just Peeing in the Rain.............

So now that we have this new puppy of ours it has been raining every day since we brought her home on Sunday. Since we constantly have to take her outside to pee and poop it's always been a downpour outside. Every time we take her out she obviously thinks she's supposed to pick up some leaves or sticks and play around instead of just doing her business. She especially likes to just lay on the ground while it's raining. The poor thing is shivering like a leaf outside in the rain but will still just want to lay there. Not my idea of un. I don't think I'd really want to have to pee in the rain either.

She sure is. It's fun though. For some reason though I don't think the neighbors would call the cops if I tried peeing in the rain. They'd just think I was nuts.

Obviously, Shar, she thinks it's great fun! I hope you have a good umbrella!

I think you're right about that! Yeah, we do have a good umbrella somewhere. I can't find the darn thing.

You're sure to find it as soon as the rains stop!

That's why my husband and I have a CAT. He just goes into the store room off of our kitchen, and uses his litter box. We can leave him alone if we go away for the weekend, leave a big bowl of food and a couple of gallons of water out for him, and we're good to go for about 48 hours, if necessary. LOL Dogs? Dogs would drive us nuts.

We used to have cats when my daughter was little. That was enough for us then. Too much hair to clean up all over the place. Plus I don't want to smell cat litter in the house all the time.

hi shar its been a long time since I had a puppy but we used to paper train ours and keep moving the newspaper closer to the outside door, then finally we just put it outside and sure enough she peed on the' outside paper. then we removed the paper , took her outside and eventually after playing around she did her business. If she has any water spaniel blood in her she will love the rain. hope she learns soon to go outside for you. good luck.

hi shar19 yes it could be she really does love the rain, each doggie does have his or her distinct personality too. God love them. I do miss not having pets here lol

We used paper too the first couple of nights. She did well with that. I guess she just has a thing for the rain!

At the best of times it's hard to get a puppy to do her busness in a prompt manner. Puppies think every thing is a game and that is just the way they are. Best just to wear your rain coat and dry her when she is finished, this wonderful puppy time will not last long.

So true. We have towel by the door to dry her off when she comes back inside.

It is much better that she doesn't mind going outside in the rain that to be in the totally opposite boat (and if it is raining as much as you say where you are, you may need to pull that boat out). We have two dogs and both of them absolutely refuse to go outside when it is raining. The little one is okay to get outside because I can pick her up and carry her outside, but we also have an almost 100 lb hound dog that I can't pick up and physically remove from the house. Hope she has continued success in peeing where she is supposed to.

I guess you are right about that. At least she is willing to still pee in the rain.

Didja say she is part Water Spaniel? I think she just likes having her own place and would really like to be able to explore some, so please turn off the running water.

Hmmm I wonder if she could be. I doubt it though. Just beagle and lab from what I know. I'll find out for sure when we take her to the vets on Monday.
