Lets say you started a discussion about God, of course failing to point out which God you are talking about, and some one starts talking about the greatness of Ahura Mazda. Now this God is probably not the God that you were addressing, but you would probably show this person respect, even though in the back of you head you might think Ahura Mazda is not real. Then an atheist or agnostic comes around and response, "I do not believe in the existence of any deity." What is the response, "You need to read my Holy Book", "How would the world exist without a God", or my favorite "I will pray for you".
None believers are treated as if they are free agent sports athletes, and they need to realize that they need to be on a team. The flip side is if you are already committed to a team no one tries to convert them. Maybe the idea is it is really hard to convert someone from one religion to another. The idea is almost that everyone should have a religion, even if your religion says that all other religions are wrong. It is almost as if people are uncomfortable with people that do not believe in a deity.
My favorite thing is when some people realize that Mr or Mrs none believe is not going to pick a team, then the response turns into, "Get off of the religious page, you do not belong here." That would be the same logic as telling someone who is an anarchist that they do not belong on the political page.
