Okay, this last Easter, April 4th 2010 at approximately 3:40PM California and Mexico time, there was a 7.2 magnitude Earthquake near the city of Mexicali, Mexico. This was so big that I felt it in Chino Hills, California. It felt like a ripple, I could see the house fan shaking, but it wasn't worse than this for the people in Mexicali. Well, this was just one in four major Earthquakes this year.
Let me recap: Haiti first, Chile second, Mexico third, and now we have SUMATRA!
This is one is a big 7.8! Here is the news story for it:

Okay, to those of you who have never been in an Earthquake, they can be one of two things. If they are light, they can be fun, but if they are anything over a 6.0, brace yourselves! They can be destructive and deadly.
This is an open discussion, anyone and everyone chime in here. What are your thoughts on all of this years major earthquakes. Feel free to say whatever you all want on them. For those of you who have been in Earthquakes, I really want to hear from you!

I am chilean and dont find anything amusing or fun about earthquakes, no matter how light. I was raised to start thinking "earthquakeª as soon as the earth started moving. It could be light but it could get worse. Last February 27, we had a mayor earthquake. On the known earthquakes it was the 5th greatest in Earth since they are measured. The first one was in Chile too, and in my lifetime.
This earthquake left destruction, specially in old country homes. The toll in lives was not big but we have housing problems for the coming winter and that could mean trouble.
I had no harm in my house. My house was built by my late husband who worked in house building and he knew how to do it. But many people have troubles. I have friends who had to rent another apartment because all the window glass ÷anes sort of exploded.
I would never rent an apartment. If the Earth starts quaking, I run out.

My boyfriend lives in an apartment, and when the Mexicali quake struck, it felt worse than what it was in that area. There was no damage, but it scared everyone.
I live in California, as I have said before, and we get Earthquakes a lot around here. Even though it is not a laughing matter, many Californians tend to believe it is because we have so many of them. We are no strangers to Earthquakes.
I have felt the light Earthquakes, which aren't that big of a deal to most of us, but when those big Earthquakes hit, we duck and cover fast. You can usually tell when there is a big one and when there is a light one. We know that we are due for a big one, and we are always told to prepare, which I am.
You were one of the lucky ones in Chile because I heard that the Earthquake in that country was devastating. Your husband must have really known about Earthquakes, buildings and Earthquake safety.
