Third Shift Jobs

My Husband wants to find a job that is third shift, he has applied at a few places but we were wondering if any US citizens could help shed some light on a few places that maybe we hadn't thought of that have third shift. Now of course we know that factories offer third shift but I am not asking about factories that have this shift, I am asking about places such as restaurants or stores that may have third shift maintenance etc. If anyone can give us any ideas it'd be greatly appreciated.

UPS, FedEx and DHL all have third shifts. Hospitals and nursing homes as well. As far as the first companies I mentioned, they usually only hire PT employees but the hourly wage is well above average. There's also an added wage simply because it's third shift. What kind of work does he do? To know that info might bring other ideas to mind....

Oh okay well I'll definitely let my husband know, but we don't want him to drive any further then he has to... Tourist Attractions? None that really require tours....

As far as tourist attractions, I was thinking more of maintenance crew work. They're usually open late and have people that do stuff after hours. As far as the other companies go, it's not just a driving job you can get. There are sorters and loaders as well.

He's applied at K Mart, works at Wal Mart so he asked for third shift as he heard Too late through the grapevine that they needed people for third. He still applied for it though just in case some of them don't work out. I don't know of a 7-11 around here but in the next county they have the other chain stores k-mart, Target, sams club...

Yes I hope so too, though I suppose as long as it's not an hour away it's close enough for me!

There are so many places in the united states that offer 3rd shift jobs that I would not know where to begin to answer your question. I would suggest going on the net and searching for jobs in your area. Usually the job search would specify the hours.

The applications my husband has filled out thus far have had the hours, only one hadn't though he's only done a few. I just really hope he gets a third shift job because I know that is what he wants.

Hey Cowgirl! I have read some of your past discussions and I know that Cowboy is very upset about his current job and would like to find something better and I surely don't blame him after some of the discussions of his that I have read! He shouldn't really have a hard time finding a job on the "third shift" because the "graveyard shift" is certainly not one of the more popular shifts in any store or any place! I would tell him to start placing applications wherever he thinks that he wouldn't mind working because I really think that he should be able to find a job on that shift just about in any store! Most places are always looking for people to work that shift since it really isn't the most popular or convenient! Tell him to just start making a list of the stores around your area and go get applications! I have my boyfriend doing the same thing except for the earlier shifts!

I don't know if you saw his last discussion on the issue but it was even worse then the rest. I know he really wants to work third shift so I'll help him make a list of all the places around us, we live in a small town so most of them will be factories, but if he has to he'll venture to one of the other counties where he can find more third shift work. I actually thought of a place he could apply for and when he gets home I'll let him know, but that place is Wendy's. I used to know someone who worked third shift at Wendy's and she actually said it was mostly quiet. Thanks so much for your response, it was appreciated. Good Luck to your BF as well for finding work.

Wal-mart is a good place and they let you buy stock into Wal-mart for a little out of your check.... My mom worked there for 3 years putting $10 out of every check and when she left that $360 invested had growed to over $750 which is twice of what she put in... they also offer benefits...... some grocery stores such as Krogers, Meyers etc are open 24/7...... Some car lots have after hours security for their lots in bigger cities...... These are just some possibilities

Wal*Mart is out, lol he works there now and is trying to get third shift. We don't have a kroger around here anymore or a meyer's ever. The car lots? eh well that does give me an idea but I guess that would be a last resort lol. Thanks so much for your response I really appreciate it!

He could always try a temp agency. They usually have a lot of 3rd shift jobs to fill, and a lot of them could be temp to hire. My one friend got his job that way, you just have to make sure they don't have mostly manufacturing jobs. I know around my part of the US that most stores have 3rd shift stocking crews. Also any 24 hour grocery stores would need maintenance that time. If all else fails you could start your own cleaning business and work those hours, you just have to get a few contracts. My old roommate did that when he couldn't get a job. Good luck to him!!

The only thing with temp agencies is that it could be temporary and he may not get another one anytime soon. I need to get a job myself as I got laid off of my last job but I won't worry about it quite yet. I want to see if he gets a job at any of the places he applied for first and then if he has We'll decide whether he wants me to just stay at home or if I need to get a job too. My uncle has a cleaning business that my aunt and he had ran. I guess if all else fails I could see if my uncle would help us start a business of our own if need be. Thanks for your info!

Our Wal Mart has a third shift maintenance. Some stores do all receiving on that shift.Factories often have sanitation crews on that shift, rather than manufacturing, if they manufacture food or medicine. Security positions have third shifts. Direct care of the adult or elderly have third shifts.Hospitals, and other emergency jobs, or dispatchers work third.

The whole reason he got on to wanting third (which I can't blame him) is becuase the Wal*Mart he works for was looking for third shifers, the only problem was the news got around to him too late. He still asked for it and if some of them don't work out he may be on third. He's going to probably ask for a transfer as well to another Wal*Mart where a friend said they could use more people on Third. He's applied to other places as well though, factories will probably be his last resort.
