Proof that there are beavers...

I don't have any. lol Here's where certain people stop by and make fun of beavers. :-) Last spring I posted a discussion about the neighborhood stream being a beaver habitat. I had photos of a lodge and trees and a dam, but no beaver. For a year I've walked by that area and not seen a beaver. Saturday I was walking with the husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law, and there, in the stream, heading toward a lodge, was a real, live beaver. So we followed it downstream until it disappeared, and when we got to the lodge, there it was, sitting there looking at us. It went further downstream to the pond and my sister-in-law got a pretty decent picture of its face. My sister-in-law is ever so slightly technology challenged, so as of today she hasn't figured out how to upload the picture and e-mail it to me. But even so: I saw a beaver! I saw a beaver! I saw a beaver! btw today at the lake: I saw loons! I saw loons! I saw loons! And I'm not talking about the retired guys and their toy boats either...

You won't believe what we call beavers over here...although to be serious one minute a few have been re-introduced in Scotland and are doing very well, which is great. So glad you saw one. They're very cute!

this is the first time I've seen one outside of a zoo, actually I'm not sure I've even seen one in a zoo!

Hiya Dawn, that felt like a little girl in nice lace frock, clapping her chubby hands and saying I saw beaver, I saw loons. Five year old may be. Never saw a beaver. :( But must be an impressive guy to catch your attention. :)

I have never seen a beaver except in 3D films and cartoons. I don't know what would be my reaction if ever I've seen one because I imagine it's just one giant rodent. I hate rodents but not all kinds, maybe just rats...I freaking hate rats and I don't know anything about loons(seriously)

yep, it's a giant rodent, but it doesn't really look anything like a rat...

Osprey - An osprey at the wildlife refuge
Never seen a live beaver... I see a lot of woodchucks around here though. I have seen proof of beavers existence though.. dams and such. Last weekend we went to a nearby wildlife refuge.. mostly they have a lot of marsh lands and some woods, and there's no hunting of course. There are a few permanent bald eagles nests there. With binoculars we could see one of the nests and an eagle perched in it. That was really cool, only ever seen bald eagles in zoos before that, never free in the wild. We also got to see a bunch of osprey nests, and one osprey by a stream.
