I lost one cent but earned much more

This may appear funny friends, but what I say is TRUE. Yesterday I saw one email from mylot about deletion of my response to a discussion, because the discussion itself was deleted. This means I lost a cent, but it implies that I will be careful enough and try not to respond to such discussions like, ‘What was your breakfast’. I find tons of such one line discussions daily. What TV you use, how many cell phones you have, which flavor ice cream/chocolate is your favorite? etc. Some members are able to create 10 or more such discussions daily, though many get deleted as they violate guidelines. This is a nice step taken by mylot certainly. Let us create good useful discussions and try to respond to good ones only. What is your view on this; we lose few cents but gain many indirectly. Happy posting. Prof

I have a habit of "screening" the discussions I respond to. I normally respond only to discussions in which something of interest is being discussed Or ones that don't look like duplicate posts. There are too many duplicate posts out there. Then they get deleted and our effort goes a waste. Good topic to discuss about Prof. I especially liked the title.

Some mylotters never seem to comprehend the working of this site when they keep on posting one liner posts which is obviously violating the guidelines. By continuously posting one liner discussions they are only entrapping others to respond and go down with them when the post get deleted. But am quite surprise some one liner gets the nod from admin when I see admin also respond to such post. So are the admin not going against their own set rules? Double Standard?

That's right, but I have to be honest it's kinda annoying when my discussion / response gets deleted, because I'm the kind of person who puts enough effort and time in my posts, I mean, I don't just post for the sake of having something to post. But yeah, overall, I'm fine with that policy of mylot there, and it's only fair that such discussions that are repeated should get deleted. :)

dear professor, this one friend had posted a discussion and many have responded, around 7. but his discussion violated something in the rules hence it was all deleted, together with his friends. it is wise to check on discussions. if you think it is violating the rules, guess you should stop and go to the next discussion. have a nice day. ann

well that serves as a lesson to the one who posted the thread you've commented. before posting the discussion we wanted to post, let us analyze first whether it follows the Mylot Discussion Guidelines... in mylot you are given the chance to gain back more than what you've lost. if you are just zealous enough to comment and post discussions as many as you can, then a cent will be folded a lot of times... happy Mylotting!

Hi Professor, from the posts deleted we gain more than what we have lost. Yeah, I do learn from the exprience not to respond to discussions which violate myLot guidelines. I find it's really difficult to tell discussions which contain plagiarizing contents. Yeah, I prefer to respond to those creative discussions from familiar users. I hope doing so can help to cut down the risk of participating in those dicussions which are copy existing writings from other sites. It's a waste of time and effort to do this fruitless task if this happens quite often Happy posting

You are very much welcome Professor Yeah, if we scare to make mistake and avoid to make any then we don't have any chance to try new things. I always like to express my feeling here whenever I have something to share with though my language is not that good. Good point dear it's a normal procedure for man to learn from errors, and gather experiences throughout life. Take care and have a nice day!

hi professor yes mylot has really stepped up to the plate and made good on deleting inane one sentence nothing discussions.I am glad that they are finally really doing that, and I also so not mind when I get a notificatin like you did. I lost a penny but learned what not to respons to. this one though was a very newcomer who had not read any of the rules and made a discussion that broke several rules. I just thought I must clue this person in to reading the rules to save their discussions from being deleted. I do not do this much anymore as I do really need what I earn.I now mostly shy away from those that look iffy andits helped my earnings go up a lot.

You are so right about those one line discussions. It seems like there are phases when you will see a ton of these and there are other times that you will see very few of them. I think that the more time we spend here on mylot, the more that we will learn about what kind of discussions are truly meaningful discussions and what discussions aren't nearly as meaningful. So, you are absolutely correct in saying that you gained a lot more than the penny that you lost.

Theres a saying that once your door is closed then God wll open the window. Its ok if we lose some sometime, for if we are patient and we persevere im pretty sure we will be able to find so much more than what we lost. Its just a matter of time until we will be able to find so much more.Just trust in yourself and everything will follow.Happy mylotting my friend

Hello professor2010, this has not yet happend to me yet but you certainly need to be carefull, some people seem to not read the TOS and just discuss what they like, it is simply best to just be careful with the discussion you are about to respond to or comment back to the person that comment on your discussion (im sorry if that sounded confusing).
