...so, not actually totally awesome then? Just like totally awesome... a sort of cheap imitation? So, really not that great... hardly worth mentioning. I've no problem at all with people using the terminology and I've probably said "like" in that context myself but, I'm curious to know a) where and how it originated b) isnt it a sort of contradiction c) what do YOU find, like, totally awesome

I don't know where it originated, but I find it, like, kind of annoying... Totally awesome would be snorkeling in Hawaii...

Like Oh my gosh, like he said.........like she said.....like it was sooooo awesome! lol I don't know where or when it started, but there are times it gets on my nerves lol. Particularly when a person says it every other word. It's like those that say 'and, huh' every other sentence. Just say it, like ya know.

I suppose we might say "It was like......." & then pause to think of just WHAT it was like, then, finding nothing comparable say "awesome" as being unconnected to the 'like'???
