Are you pets allowed on the furniture? Do they sleep in your bed? We have two large house dogs (a lab and a chow/golden retriever mix) and they are both allowed on the sofas, and they even occasionally sleep in my bed. My mother in law loves animals, even had house pets, but never wanted them on her sofas and NEVER NEVER on any bed.

Our pets are allowed on the furniture... BUT if I want to sit where they are they better move or I'm going to sit on them (they learn that fast!). I own the couch, I get first rights to it. Our dogs LOVE to sleep on the bed with us, and occasionally we let them... but usually they sleep in their crates. We decided to have them sleep in their own beds when our older dog started to get possessive of the bed and would growl at us when we tried to get her down. NOT acceptable!! The cat sleeps wherever he wants.. but he's a cat, what are you going to do?

Our boys will usually get off the furniture if we say DOWN. If not, then we sit on them too. Smart to make them stay in their own beds and put a stop to that possessivness before it got out of hand!

Some pet owners are more strict than others. We have a cat named Tigi(search for picture if you want) and we let her sleep in bed and she occasionally sticks her claws in furniture so the chair i'm siting in now is marked a bit We even let her on the table at breakfast and share meat and sometimes olives with her. But my gf's cat isn't allowed on table. It is different if you have a dog that stays out and if it's bigger but most cats do at least sleep on furniture. I saw a mini couch for cats in the shop it was so lovely Have a great day!

Its funny, my mother in law doesn't want any pets on her furniture BUT she lets my/her cat on the sofa and a chair but not her beds ever.

WE now have 2 cats. One, the male, is NOT allowed in our room anymore because he has sprayed in there a couple times. The female, however, is allowed in there and stays on the bed most of the time. They are allowed on the furnitue, but not on the tables or counters!! The dog I use to have slept with me EVERY night and sat in my lap or beside me on the couch every chance she got. She was a doxie though and small. I didn't let our lab/pit mix get on the couches or beds when he was in the house, he was just too big!!

Has your male cat been neutered? Sometimes that can help stop spraying. I had a cat, but she decided she'd rather live with my in-laws, which might be better cause our dogs are not cat friendly.

We have a golden retriever and he is allowed to sleep on the couch. Our couch isn't that big and sometimes there isn't much space left for husband and me We didn't have that problem was he was younger, but now he has become a big dog. He is not allowed to sleep on our bed. He is too big and when he comes back from the garden he is often very dirty. If he were allowed to sleep on our bed we would have change the sheets all the time...

Yep, sometimes it can be cute when a puppy does something, but it becomes a problem when they get older.

hello there! yes! i have a puppy now and we allow him to sleep with us! haha sometimes i feel like he already own our bed. he plays there as if he's a kid, rolling tumbling whatsoever! haha sometimes i also play with him. sometimes i also feel like my puppy don't feel like a puppy, hehe i think he feels like he's also human, coz after having his dinner, he go directly to the bed, play a little then sleep. and in the morning, he will not be getting off the bed when we are not yet getting up too! hehe. i think we also smell the same already...lol! just kidding!

My baby on his couch - My black Labrador on his very own couch
Yes, yes, yes!! lol. He has his own couch and he also sits with my husband on his couch when we watch tv. He also sleeps with my husband (we have our own bedrooms). He also has some cushions on the floor that he uses. He knows he cant jump on my bed as I have a air mattress and he doesnt even try to. He wont even try to grab his toys if they're on a table, even though I never told him not to grab anything on a table. He seems to know that everything on the floor and on his couch is his to use but nothing else. We also have a labrador.

My husband and I also sleep in separate rooms. Its funny because when we go to sleep one dog is with him and one with me, and by the time we've gotten up the dogs have switched places!
