Evicted over Peeps?

I dont think so... The trial of a Boulder County woman who claims she was evicted from her Gunbarrel apartment last spring over her Easter decorations has been delayed. Carol “Chay” Burdick, 60, was set for a jury trial to begin Tuesday morning. On Monday afternoon, the case was pushed back to June 22. Burdick gained national attention last year after she claimed that her landlord kicked her out because she wouldn't take down her Easter decorations, which included bunny-shaped, sugar-coated marshmallow Peeps candies attached to the top of her door. She is being sued by Aimco, a Denver-based real estate investment trust that owns the Meadow Creek Apartments at 5105 Williams Fork Trail in Gunbarrel. The company claims Burdick was evicted because she refused to pay rent — not because of the Peeps — and it's seeking $2,300 in unpaid rent as well as attorneys' fees that could top tens of thousands of dollars. Burdick counter-sued, claiming Aimco breached its contract with her and acted with negligence. Because of limits at the county court level, the most a jury could award Burdick is $15,000. Burdick's attorney, John Pineau, could not be reached for comment late Monday. Yeah I was on her side about the peeps thing until I read about the unpaid rent. It sounds like she was trying to twist the story to make her landlord sound like the bad guy. And I was all ready to support her at first... Silly me for almost falling for it. But she owes a lot and there's obviously more going on here than she's admitting to. I wonder who will win...

Heh exactly. "Oh did I forget to mention I didn't pay rent? But that's not why I'm being evicted. It's the peeps I swear!"

I think she's going to lose...and when she does, in addition to paying lawyer fees, I hope the judge socks it to her for "wasted time in court" fees. It's b.s. like this that makes our judicial system painfully slow... You will let us know who wins won't you? Heck, I'll be in Colorado about that time, so I can check myself

Another case of overreaction, and another frivolous lawsuit!! Personally, I keep all of my decorations inside of my apartment, not outside on the door, but still. They over reacted!!!
