I love making chicken soup. But my kids love making dumplings or egg noodles. So here's my dilema I made a dumpling in the past year that was awsome and had this poof-pop like when you bit into it of air it was good. However, I have no idea what recipe I used and what site I got it from... I think maybe cooks? eitherway I've been putz'n with various recipes but nothing seems quite right. Any tried and true good versions of home made dumplings?

I always used the recipe in my Betty Crocker cookbook. You can access any recipe in the book at their site. But I added some sugar, rosemary and thyme to them, too. They are delicious, light and fluffy!

well, I hope you have found one Maggiepie wanted me to make dumplings the other day - about the time you posted this - and what she has me do is take about half flour, half baking mix (like Bisquik) and water until it makes a nice ball. Then I drop them by about inch "clumps" into the chicken stuff, in this case, water and chicken bullion... then cook until they are done - generally around an hour. The ones that go in early kind of break down and thicken the stock and the others are the dumplings don't think this is exactly what you had before, but it is what she is used to

The best cookbook I have come across is the Joy of Cooking. It´s so wonderful that I prsented it as a marriage gift to each of my daughters. There you will find everything. Even when you want an exotic recipe its there. Check it!

Honestly, my mother does the simplest thing when it comes to her dumplings when she is making chicken and dumplings. Her dumplings are actually canned biscuits that she has split into fourths before she drops them into the broth. Doing it this way saves her a lot of time and I honestly feel like they are among the best dumplings that I've ever eaten. I hope that you find the recipe that you are looking for to make your dumplings.
