hello littlefrancis,
I would rather not....better to have background check first....lesson learn already...We don't own a company but manager of our own home,my mom was looking for someone to help at home, she was recommended by a relative..very good doing household chores, alert & always energetic...but came to know she is a thief...mum took her to my nephew school so next time, she will be the one take him but she took the teacher's cellphone & we found out because my sister search her body & found it in her private part.anyway long story...so i rather have a background check or might as well have to ask her to provide a police report first...to know if they are reliable & honest & can be trusted...

I think you are so right in needing a background check of someone going
into your home.. I am sorry that you experienced what you did.
It's so dangerous anymore.. People both male and female wear masks
Some even pretend to be someone they are not.

Sometimes you would just have to. It is not possible to know everything about a person just from their work application and a couple of short interviews!

Maybe not but a little more time in hiring is more valuable then losing a lifetime
of money you put into a company that is closed down through improper selection
of candidates for work
IF the job doesn't require them to handle money or deal with things that
are people's personal info..then sure hire any jo smoe..but you still have to
worry about what kind of face you present to the public.

It depends... if he/she knew nothing about the position he/she is applying for, but willing and eager to leanr new things then ill hire him. If im the manager i will not immediately consider those who know everything but is not hardworker and don't like to learn new things. Its nice to teach someone who is willing than to have someone who feels like he/she knows everything but really cant perform well.

So you have no concern to know if this person destroyed the last company
they worked for? If they have been in trouble with the law?
THis plays no importance to you?

i used to do hiring of people. if someone came to me and asked me to hire them without the proper paper work to show me thier work history then no. because i wouldnt want to have someone to work for me who is unable to do what they are suppose to do.
sadly enough my wife and her mom talked me into hiring my sister in law husband and knowing his work history, yeah he didnt last long, he didnt want to work.
but the kind of work we did, we couldnt just have anyone work for us since it was doing securty work.

I agree with you on what you have written.
I wouldn't even consider taking anyone without knowing their whole history
especially if they have any kind of access to bank accounts etc.

Never.
If you have no information about a persons history, then how are you to know if they are going to work or are just there to get money and mess you around. You may not know what trouble they have gotten into with their past jobs (stealing etc). And you could learn to regret hiring the person.
If you mean you know nothing about their personality or personal background but you have all of their references and their criminal record check, which were all good, and clear. Then yes. I don't think you need to "know" who you are hiring, and their personality may have nothing to do with the job, they may be a happy outgoing person or they may be a quiet introvert, but it all depends on the type of job, if i was hiring for an office job, so long as they did the work on time and did it well, then their personality and home life wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I think this is why interviews are so important as if the job is for a waitress for example, the person needs to be quite confident and be able to talk to people, but other than that, you don't need to know if they are married or have children I don't think that is important, so it all dpeends on what you mean by their "background", I don't mind if someone comes over from Iraq or wherever so long as they work hard and have all the right documentation to show they are legal to work and have gone down all the right paths, and that is all I would need.

I agree 100 percent.. Especially if they have to deal with people's bank
accounts. .I think a person who cares very little about who he/she hires
is not a trust worthy person themselves.
They say by such manner that they take whoever ..they can get.
No matter what bad they have done in the past.

Well my answer to your question is this. Yes I will hire them because as a manager I can teach him the skills that he needed to learn that fits for his job for example fresh graduates, as long as they provided me the requirements that I needed and they have good credentials so there's no reason for me to reject them because I believe that all people should give a chance to prove themselves.

You can teach them new things but you can't undo a person who
is a habitual liar or thief. If a person has proven to be
a dishonest .. They come and put on the best face and tell you what you want
to hear. You hire them and next thing you know you have 1000 lawsuits on you.
I rather a person with a good background who challenges me to grow then
someone who "seems sweet"

No, I don't think I would hire anyone without knowing anything about them. I would probably do a background check on them and call references and everything like that. I would want the person I hire to know what they are doing and I would want to know that they would work good and I would want to believe that they would not take stuff that isn't theirs, etc...

Most people seem to over here, I would do a basic background check especially with the police myself but I do think I'm a good judge of character so I feel confident in spotting a fake or someone who could be trouble as I don't take to people like that very well and it usually comes from just seeing them. I would be concerned about hiring someone who could turn out to be bad news, so I would do a basic check and if that found nothing see how they go.

I will never hire, i must look in to the paper submitted by him/her, those who have given certificates in favor, will verify..
It will be foolishness to hire and repent later..
Thank you so much for this post.

of course not,as a business student i know how hard is to rotate in the world of business..you must make decisions wisely..you must also consider the ideas of others..
i will not hire him/her..who knows,he's an ex-convict?
your just putting your business in the risky corner of the world where it rotates..

I would never hire anyone without knowing their backgrounds. the people hiding something are not honest. if they have something to hide it means that they did something that they are ashamed of. why, somebody, should hide something?it might be something minor, but you never know. they might be criminals or something. it is risky as well to get somebody with a strange past.
