How about build a house.

Twenty years ago we moved into our home. It was started in September 1999 and we moved in March of 1990. That was a real job. First of all, land was cleared because it was all timber. Cut the wood down into lengths and then pile it all. Then the excavater came in and moved stumps and brush all the while we continued to cut trees. Oh boy, now the clearing was finished and the hole was dug. I came home from work to find the excavator and the concrete guy argueing in the hole. "Calgon Take Me Away". I was supposed to pay them both that day and was so mad that I tore up both checks, threw them in the hole and went home to where we were staying at the time. Finally, the house was taking shape, yippee!!! Then they hung the dry wall during hunting season. We had to have a "makeshift" furnace put in so they could hang drywall. They hung it and left for hunting season. Things warped. Like dummies, we had paid them and they wouldn't come back and fix - stupidity on our part. Electrical was a minor issue, as they cut into the drywall after it was hung, because the electricians couldn't remember what they had done. Finally, we were in the house. Hopefully, we will never have to build another house. It is beautiful and worth the effort but there were definitely rocks on the road!!!!

Hello am bit confused, you started building in 1999 and moved in 1990? Hope you are living in that house even now, i have houses of my own, three of them, all concrete, but due to foulplay and so many days absent by masons, carpenters we had to suffer lot. Prof.Dr. B.Saraf. PhD

Wow I am sorry you had a bit of an ordeal at first, but glad you finally got moved into the home and love it. I hope you don't have to build another house, but if you ever do maybe it won't be as big of a hassle this time around, you learned things you probably didn't know before so you'll be better equipped if the time comes that you do build another house. My father is a construction worker, and my husband and I have a friend whose father is a construction worker, too bad they work at two different companies. If we were to ever build a place, if we didn't enlist the company one of them works for, we'd most likely ask their advice and have them "overlook" things so we don't get screwed over!

I'm glad you have a beautiful new home now! I know you enjoy it. I'm sorry you caught the two guys arguing in the hole and I'm sure that put a damper on your day. It was nice of them to hang the drywall during hunting season. They put youall before themselves. This was a new house when my parents and I first moved in it in 1959. I was only 7 years old at the time and I'm afraid I didn't do anything to help, lol! I was just enjoying myself so much!

Are you tired tonight? Check your dates. There are always such problems. When my son did their house, the cement men took a bulldozer that did not belong to my son to pull out the stuck truck. Not knowing how to run it they broke something and what a mess.
