My daughter is 7 months and has not cut her first tooth yet, She has been slobbering pulling on her gums, chewing on everything, been real cranky, and has knots in her mouth where a couple teeth are coming close to coming out, or so I thought. She has been doing all this since she was three months old and there is no change. She is so cranky all the time and her gums are bothering her so much. Can anyone tell me anything to help her, or how long it took your child to cut his/her first tooth?

Hi... my son is 15 months old now, and has all his teeth and I have to say they came through really quickly which I was thankful for, as I know exactly how you feel, and it was a terrible thing to see my son is pain, but these are the main things that I did, that I feel helped him cut his teeth, and made it that much quicker... I bought him biccypegs, which are hard biscuits made of wheat, that you can tie with the ribbon provided around their wrist and they can then hold it and bite on it for as long as they like... The main thing that I did though was I bought my son his first toothbrush, and when I gave it to him straight away it was in the mouth, and I feel this has helped his teeth to come through so fast... basically for the most part it is best if you can give your baby something that they can chew on, it dosnt need to be cold, that is just for relieving the pain, but anything that is safe to put in the mouth and not too big would be perfect, especially as they can just chew on them, and in the meanwhile, giving those little teeth easier access to break through. My little man had all his teeth before he hit 13 months.

Also with the toothbrush you can also put a little baby toothpaste on it... just a tiny bit, and this might help her to use the toothbrush more often which in turn will help those teeth come through

What I did with my kids unless they were super cranky they got something like a frozen wash cloth to suck on. Or even if you have a fresh fruit feeder http://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-Fresh-Food-Feeder-Pack/dp/B000GK5XY2 you can put a frozen peach slice in there for her to suck on. Otherwise I'd wait til bed to give pain reliever and some Hylands teething tablets to ease the pain so we both could sleep. HTH! GL!

back in the old days when my kids were young we used to put the teething rings in the refrigerator and get them cool and that seemed to help.
