Don't crack me up

Yesterday my box came in the mail. A couple of years ago, I saw an ad for Leigh Valentine's non-surgical face lift. It's basically a facial masque that you apply at home. I tried it and I liked it a lot. Makes my skin look nice. :-)
So it had been a few years and I decided that I wanted to do it again. I was going to wait until the weekend, but that box was just sitting there saying, "now, do it now, you know you want to." So I did.
Basically you mix a powder with a liquid and brush it onto your face and neck. Then you relax and don't talk or anything while it hardens. It's supposed to stay on for half an hour.
Well... 25 minutes into this, Richard, Dearra and Naomi come into the room and see me sitting there with my hair tied back and what looks like dried glue on my face. And once they saw what was going on, the stinkers tried to crack me up.
And I'm waving at them to get out of the room, but nobody's listening. So finally I had to laugh. Crack went my face. Lucky for them, the half hour was mostly up by then anyway, so I didn't have to kill anybody.
But next time I'm locking the door.

oh my hi dawnald yep whenever one gets into a certain situation that just begs for your family to make you giggle or laugh hard, they are right on hand to stick it to you. I am glad it was almost time to take the masque
off as I would have hated to read how dawnald had gone all bersek with her family,he he.

I'm glad that you made it almost to the 30 minute time limit. I know how kids can be. I not only had experiences like that (and still do) with my own sons who are grown now but I used to do things like that to my own mother.
My sister and I would come in the room wherever my mother happened to be reading a book or watching TV and sit on either side of her. We'd then proceed to pretend to yawn, making wildly exaggerated sound effects. It wasn't long before my mother would start to yawn. At that point, we became demons and would make our mother laugh, interrupting her yawn. The process would then be repeated until my mother started making references to murder. We loved it! She did, too, apparently, because she never did try to kill us.
I agree with locking the door next time you try this. It's almost uncanny the way kids show up when you don't want them to and, of course, they usually love mischief.

I HOPE those things were soft and fluffy as opposed to sharp, metallic, glass or other ouchies!
Aren't we bad to our parents but isn't it fun? Well, as long as they're laughing, too?

LOL! Look on the bright side, though, it could have been much worse. They could have taken a picture of you like that and used it as blackmail threatening to post it on the Internet if you did not give in to their demands.

when i was younger i did burst into my mum's room while she had some masque stuff on her face. it was always hilarious when my siblings and i tried to get into a conversation with her at that moment. we always made up something important that she had to respond immediately. my dad on the other hand, just kept on with the slapstick jokes..
after reading your post, i realize now what would be going on in her head when we put her through that..!
ahh..good times of years past

of course we all did!
that's why when mum was on the masque, it's a sign that the night's dinner is going to be a special one for her

Well Dawn, with your happy family I think you'd better draw the curtains and lock the windows too. Even then, they'd figure out what you were doing and find some way to repeat the episode.

Phew! At least you almost made it to the half hour limit! Don’t you dream of time for yourself where you can put on face masques, go to the bathroom, take as shower, read a book...All by yourself without anybody making you laugh or wanting you to make them laugh. My daughter comes to me almost daily with, “Make me laugh mummy, please make me laugh!” It’s like WT? What am I the court jester? So I have to laugh to make her laugh...

This is funny. If I had been there I may have joined in! I remember that my mother was a lady that used to use clay masques frequently. They were white - like a clown's make up. Well we were expecting an uncle to come for dinner and she put it on to dry and remove before he came.
Of course he came early and she guessed that it was him and went and opened the front door.
He gave a shout and almost fell clutching his heart in fright.
We laughed so hard - not realising the seriousness as he had had one heart attack. My sisters ran for it and as usual, I was the one she caught to whack hard with her shoe!

Maybe I should lock the door!

Ouch, I can't even wear 2 inch heels any more...
The more and more such stories I hear, the more I think there must be more to this world than we can see or reason about.

That's a great story Dawn, thanks for sharing it with us. It's great to pamper yourself once in a while isn't it? The nearest thing I'm gonna get to pampering over weekend is Mum trying to acquire a tangerine feather boa for me to wear at the Blackpool v Cardiff Final on Saturday (Blackpool play in tangerine lol). I would be wearing other things by the way. Haha!
As for my face, I have had two professional facials done. The first one was the best as it was at a Clarins counter in Boots. I remember cleansers, clarifying lotion, masks and moisturisers being applied and every single one was divine. I had my face wrapped up in a towel and nearly fell asleep at one point. The thing is, whilst the facial was free all I had to do was buy one product at the end...and I chose the cheapest, the cleanser! Believe me, if I'd had the money I would've bought EVERYTHING but none of us have got the time to slap that on every day have we?

I am glad you were almost done. I would do it when no one will bother you next time, or you might not be so lucky.

That is the sort of thing I would have done to
It is fun trying to make someone laugh when you know they can't really but then can't hold it back lol
As for locking the Door well I would stand outside the door trying to make you laugh lol

Maybe I'll lock the door and put up a sign that will make people really NOT want to come in. Any suggestions?

My two daughters always make fun of me when I put on those thick white masque. To them I look exactly like the chinese opera singers with the whole face painted white. They start mimicking the chinese opera singers just to make me laugh. I try to bite my lips to stop myself from laughing but in the end I can't control myself but laugh with them. I prefer to go the the saloon to do my facial these days.

Hi Dawn,
Nice beauty regiment but you're right ---to complete the time and be fully relax you really have to lock yourself inside next time. you really have a happy family with such lovely and kids. i can imagine how active you are in the house---seems like no dull moments even when you are in your beauty rest mode.
