Cramming Things In

Is your house just a bit too full? My husband and I don't live in our own place yet as a lot of ya'll know, however, we've got a lot of stuff, and I imagine by the time we do move we'll have a lot more stuff. Around here we have to just figure out places to cram things, at Christmas we have to put presents in the closet or on the floor of one of the rooms. Don't even get me started on Grocery Shopping as we have to cram things in the closet that won't fit in the kitchen. I just hope that hubby and I can learn how to organize so we don't have to do this, but admittedly I am lazy, so even before we have kids I am sure a lot of things will be crammed, lol. So are you constantly cramming things in to places?

I also cram. As a student, it's unavoidable. And i hate the fact that i love to procrastinate. I always wait til the last moment then i'll make a move. I've taken steps though on time management. It's quite work but i know i'll get used to it eventually.

I was afraid that I might confuse some people, I don't mean cramming for tests if that's what you thought, I mean cramming things in to closets and other areas of the house. I mean, having so many things you don't know what to do with them. I'm sorry if I've misunderstood you.

I cram, stack and stuff stuff. No matter how big or small your house, if you tend to be disorganized, you will fill it up, I know I do. It is harder if your space is small, though. I also am married to someone who does not always put things in the right places and is not bothered by junk and stuff every where.

My husband is Obsessive Compulsive. He likes things to be straight and neat but some things he doesn't care about. Like a stack of papers has to be stacked neatly, but can still be stacked there. Eh, I can't talk I am rather a messy person. When I met my husband, that changed a little bit. I used to change my room around all the time, but my husband doesn't like things moved around. He has moved things around after I've asked if we could, but it'd take him awhile as he wants to think about it. I let him do so, I just wait and then when things are moved around he moves them around. When we get our own place, we've already said we'd have like a room each that we'd organize, and then we'd agree on other rooms. Or something like that. Then again I am pretty content with things not being moved around, though there's not much space in our bedroom to move things around.

I really don't have a lot of things, but then again I'm not married. I imagine I would have that problem if I had a man living with me too. But don't even get me started on my parent's house. This week they are away. My dad is in Chicago, my mom is spending time with her mother in Tulsa. So I thought I would do something to surprise them. Since my mom got sick years ago, their house is a mess. No cleaning if it is not done by me. My dad does as much as he can, but he works for a living and when he comes home, he is tired. I don't live with them, so I am only so much help. So I went into my parent's room and decided to tackle their bookcases. Oh how naive I was. You know how in movies people pick up books in an old house, drop them on a table, and dust comes up and chokes them until they cough? THAT is what is going on in their room. I never understood just how many books my mom has. They are coming home Friday, and I am not sure how I will get them in order. Everything was shoved in there haphazardly, and everything was dusty of course. I am totally overwhelmed.

I hope they do too. I finished one of the big book cases. Tomorrow morning I'm going to be put fresh clean sheets on their bed and vacuum in their room.

I went from basically happily living in a three bedroom apartment with my daughter and her two kids to scambling to find this little one bedroom that I am sharing with my granddaughter. I have not even really unpacked. I have alot of books. Much less than I used to. Plus pictures and keep sakes from a life time of sentimentality. I have sorted through alot of things and gave a load to St. Vincent De Paul's just yesterday and probably will again soon. My granddaughter had her baby stuff around her and her small amount of stuff she has carried with her through her problem filled life. Ya, I stuff stuff.

No space will be too small if you know how to organize it properly. I am a very lazy person myself, an characteristic which I am really trying to remove or suppress somehow, but I have to fight my own personality and set order in my life. You cannot live in mess. That's a fact. And it's proven fact that mess and disorganization can lead to many unhappy psychological problems like depression. Which is pretty bad. So..the bottom line is : We like it or not... We have to clean after ourselves or we might just have to suffer from our own laziness. Good luck packing and happy marriage.

we have a garage sale at least once or twice a year, plus, we donate items to thrift stores regularily. i consider myself to be pretty organized though no matter what and if i have too much stuff, i get rid of it.

Yes my house is very full. But I like it to be cluttered free. This is a challenge so I clean out and throw away on a regular basis to keep down the clutter. I have only two bedrooms and two bathrooms but lots of family coming and going. so we have a boys room and a girls room. At present, 3 in the girls room. We have lots of plastic snap lid containers under the bed and on top of the one closet! I have to keep it clear as I do not remember where I put things!

Yeah.. I think ever since I was born here on earth, I have always been cramming. At first, I make things (especially when I get so excited) then after a couple of days I stop and wont work on it until it's near deadline.

Oh yes, it's very full, there are piles of things everywhere - books, DVDs, clothes, etc. We have a small house (rented) with 6 of us and it is just too small, but we haven't got enough money to rent a bigger place or to buy more storage. We need more chests of drawers for clothes and bookcases for books, but until then, we have piles of things. Sometimes it makes me feel very stressed and crammed in, like I have no space to breathe. I do de-clutter regularly, but it all piles up again and as I collect lots of things, it is often my stuff!!
