I will keep this brief as this is now th 5th time I have tried to start discussion. I live on the edge of the Jurassic coast and on a day out with my son and good friend we found a ammonite fossil probably hundres of million years old. I have uploaded a pic so you can see. Have you ever been interested in fossil hunting or acheology? Whats treasures have you found?

Shows in the discovery channel about fossil hunting have always caught my interest. It makes me wonder how people lived in the past. Also, i like to watch those archeologists hunting for dinosaur bones. It had always fascinated me. :)

Hi there Ellie Well, tomorrow you should talk with a museum to give it in (maybe even receive something for it / or not) as i think that would be a great addition to their collection. Other parties, like genetic research might also be interested in studying it as well i think. I have a small interest for fossils, yes, after viewing movies like Jurassic Park for example, i played the game "Jurassic Park, Operation Genesis" which was quite interesting in regarding some fossils (animals). I also encountered information about fossils in ZooTycoon expansion - Dino Digs :) Hugs :P

I don't specifically look for them but once when the kids and I were going through a state park we found an arrow head...which we turned in as it was property of the state.

Hi Tamara, There were no worms on the beach and I am sure you and Jade you get a coach trip day out to Lyme Regis. If you pay £5 there are specialk guides that will help you make a find as the beach s covered just need to know where to look. It is one of P1keys favourite places too. Huggles. Ellie :D

arrow heads and pottery bits and pieces have been the most we have found, but I love the hunt. I felt excited just hearing what you found.

How wonderful! What a find! About 35 years or more ago, my husband was with some workers clearing out land to plant bananas. The earth was being churned up by a plough on the tractor and my husband picked up a beautiful statuette. It was about 3" in length at the most and was of a women with negro features. Her whole body was contained in the 3". Totally amazing piece of carving. It probably dated back to the time of slavery. Foolishly I gave it to a friend to take to the Museum in our city for to to be identified and the so-called friend claimed to have lost it! Boy was I mad. He then migrated and I have not seen him since Then we had an area on the property known as Africa but no one knew why it had that name. Again, my husband started to get that area ploughed but up came human bones and so we guessed that it was probably an original slave cemetery. So we had the area blessed and then left them in peace. We also have a piece of a sugar mill left on the property and again I made sure that no one destroyed the walls that are left. I am a nut about history and archaeology but my knowledge is very limited. If I ever retire then I will be able to read more.

Hi Cynthiann, What a shame so called friend lost it, probably sold it more like. That is lovely that you had the area blessed and also explains why the area was named Africa to. I am considering at present about doing a course in archeology as my son is made about it too. Rather than watch cartoons he will watch programmes like Time Team. Unfortunately he is still far too young to come on a dig with me bless so going to the beach is the best I can do for now but yes what a find. Huggles. Ellie :D

lol UK waters are not the warmest so I don't blame her for that! I have been inestigating all sorts in the area I live now and it does in fact have a lot of history. It is knowing where to start.

I love that old stuff (how do you think I got to be #1 in the History interest?) If my health had better I might've been more interested in doing that as a career....

Hi ElicBxn, I am looking into doing an archeology course at present and would love to go on a dig. This beach is amazing as there are just so many fossils everywhere. Shame your health didn't allow you to persue it. Huggles. Elli :D

hi we were rock hunting my mom and me and we found three Indian arrowheads made of pink quartz and hewn to a sharp edge and part of what looks like a tomahawk. this was years back, and I have found a few fossils too on our California Coast. I never knew what happened to the indian relics we had found. My folks sold the South Dakota farm and moved to Tempe Arizona and had a country sale giving away most of their belonging at a few cents on the dollar, I hated that as I had pleaded with them to save my childhood books as I would need them when my baby son at that time was old enough to read.they were so tight rather than send them to me they sold them. they were my books. I have here in my room some rocks that were cut open and have crystals in them ,geode is that the right term, and a moss agate that I found.these came from Arizona too.

Hi Hatley, oh I would love to find things like arrowheads. When my son is older I intend to go on an archeoogical dig with him a we are both interested in that type of thing. It is such a shame that your folks sold it all as they would have been lovely for you to have kept and passed down eh! Huggles. Ellie :D
