I just got a new job for a publishing company and I am a excited and little nervous for my first day at work. I still don't know what will happen on my first day. I hope I well get along well with my co-workers as it is also important for me so I will be at ease while working.
They say that first impression lasts and somehow it is true, not all the time though. I think I have good interpersonal skills and i hope it will still work this time but we'll never know what kind people I will be working with this time, if they will be easy to get along with.
How about you? What do you usually do on your first day at work? Do you try to make a good impression?

Hello,
I always believe it is importanat to make a good first impression whatever the situation may be. Whether it is work, or socially it's all the same.
To make a good impression is not that hard to do, just be yourself and be polite. If you try to be overzealous in making an impact then people can be very wary of you. I hate people who are over-bearing when you first meet them, I always think there is some sort of alternative motive behind it.

Congratulations! A good first impression is really important, but you don't need to dress yourself deliberately, just be yourself, but proper dressing and clothes, appropriate polite, powerful professional acknowledges of your new job are necessary because you are going to get new job. I think the company prefer to appreciate your self-cultivations.

OH congratulations on your new job, that is awesome you got it. Well friend, I would recommend you just be yourself, but try and hold on to your privacy and character. People right away tend to be nosy and want to cross the line. Remember you are there to do a job and not to share your life story. When people are bold and ask you: whats your story? Well, I would usually say something along the lines of: not to be rude but my story is mine, I am just another human being with qualifications to do excellent at my job and that is what I am here for. Or, I would ignore the question and ask something job related, take charge of the conversation and lead it to business, get off the personal unethical conversation.

Yes, I think it is important to make a good impression on your first day at work. So try to turn up on time, be polite to everyone, smile, seem happy and positive, dress smartly, make sure your hair is clean and tidy, don't wear too much jewellery, get your work done well, be friendly, etc. Good Luck! I am sure you will be fine!

Hey,
I always try to make a good first impression on people where ever I go.You're right, good first impressions are helpful because they last but I feel its more important to be absolutely yourself and be straightforward if you want people to take you seriously. :)
Congratulations on your new job!
Goodluck

I am not comfortable working for someone else. I did once, but never tried it again. Maybe, I am really cut for business and not for employment. I am more of an entrepreneur. I always wanted to be my own boss.
