Well due to a very hot March here in Minnesota my plants flowers and trees sprung up earlier than normal. This is the first of my maroon/white Asiatic Lilies to bloom. They usually don't open until mid-June. They are a hardy blub flower that withstands the frost we get here in May. Mid-May we got a killing frost 2 days in a row and the lilies survived even though they were out of the ground already. Whew! So did your area get a mid-May killing frost? Are your flowers bloomed yet? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Not my lilies..:( How come yours bloomed before mine? I thought you lived in an area that has a colder climate? Though we did have close to freezing weather a couple weeks ago, I did see my lily, but it hasn't bloomed yet..:(

We had temps in the 80's for nearly a week in March is why my bloomed early I guess. It can get to minus 25 here in the winter, so I'd say it's a "colder" climate. HAHAHA! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Hi webeishere, it is a beautiful lily, here in India we don't get this type of lily. We have different types. We can see such lily only in flower exhibition.

Yeah, it got a little chilly here, too, mid-May. Not nice, to say the least, but I don't think anything got killed off in my garden (other than what the roofers trampled).

We had 5 or 6 lilies open up this morning actually. I don't know what kind you would call them. They are orangish red in color and they are on stems that are about 4 feet tall. There are about 15 buds on each of the maybe 10 or so that are growing.

That is gorgeous. Most of my Iris is done, except the Louisiana iris, which is blooming now. The roses are going crazy, mom's amaryllis is going crazy, the buddleia is just starting to bloom, the day lilies haven't started yet. No May frost here, but up in Grass Valley there was some...

No, we have not had a bad frost here in may. That would be very unusual for us to. Feb. was such a bad month for us we needed a break. Hope your weather will stay good now.

i have been away on holiday, so just missed my aquiliega plants in flower, they are just past their best. But they do sometimes flowere later in the season. My scented geraniums are flowering in lovely shades of blue and pink. But lots of my plants start to flower mid summer- fuchsias, roses and all the myriad pots and containers and the flower beds. we do have reasonably mild weather. I have never lost any plants to frost this time of the year.....yet. shouldnt speak too soon should I Glad to see your posts, Grandpa Bob, best wishes to you and your family.

thank you very much for best response grandpa bob. I mentioned my aquiliega plants, and they are now flowering again. probably the rest of the plants in the same plant are now coming into flower. they do look lovely, i like their unusual shape. I bought some new , supposedly lilac , roses, the buds look suspiciously pinky/red !!

This all sounds so beautiful! I bet they smell good, too! I don't have very many flowers around my place any more. I just have a lot of honeysuckles that bloom wild every year. I also have some hyacinths that bloom every year in March on my patio.
