Multi-tasking, can you do it? What multi-tasks do you do? Do you earn more that

way? I admire people who can multi-task. I can't walk and chew gum at the same time. Cliche, but true. I have to devote all my concentration to one thing at a time. So do you muti-task? What kinds of things can you do together? What does it translate to more of for you? Money? Time? Something else?

Multitasking is now become a fashion of modern days. People use multitasking to show other that he is busy. But concentration is disturbed by one another task. So we can't do any one of them properly. Multitasking lessen the efficiency. I think it effect on the both task. I think for better concentration it is best to do single task in single moment. When we are in multitask we can't justify properly to both of them. And multitasking lessen the quality of both. As concentration is disturbed by one another so single tasking is best.

I understand what you're saying and I agree. But now-a-days, job discriptions say, "must be able to multi-task." So it's an actual requirement for many jobs .

Ability do do different task is another thing and doing two task in same time is different one. At a single moment if any one try to do two different task I am sure no one can do that with full efficiency. People may have skill in different field. But at same time working in two different field must lessen the ability.

The reality is that they hire people here who can answer the phone and type, then relay a message, etc. One person to do the work of many. That is the reality. Whether they do it well or not, that is what and why people hire multi-taskers. They aren't going to hire one person to type, one to answer the phone, and one to relay a message.

Well lets see what I have opened..mylot,yahoo,facebook,hotmail,my writing site and 2 documents... Though I really can't do two at once like my daughter who can watch TV, IM and talk on the phone at one time, my multitasking has to do with going from one place to another, back and forth..I do this for friendship and money, obviously here, the others are for friendship and to try to get my book published..

I can drive and listen to the radio/talking book at the same time. Even have a conversation, if it isn't too detailed.

I only play the radio to stay awake, it's like background noise, I don't really listen to it. For awhile, they had a stupid song with a car horn in it. I had to keep turning my radio off because it would startle me and I'd have to look all over the place to see what car beeped at me and why.

If I'm listening to music, I'm probably singing along with it

I have ADD so I find myself doing one thing and another in just a few minutes without finishing the previous task. I am more productive when I am trying to focus. In order to focus, I give myself a time limit to do certain tasks and the time limit is often short. I use an online countdown timer for this purpose. I think multitasking is not for everybody. However, you can incorporate all your activities into a system so that your mind treats it as one single task. Have a system for doing things.

I find having a list works for me. Esp. with menopause. My memory is horrible.

I am a multi tasker for sure..lol..I guess mine if for time. I also have a lot of responsibilites at work so I have to be thinking about 5 different things at once and how I am going to accomplish them in a given time. While I'm at work..I think about school, home, children, b/f, and dogs. There is a lot going on in my life all the time so mutitasking has become a survival skill of sorts..lol.

I hope you get a chance to rest, relax and single task-rest once in a while!
