Distance learning degrees worth it?

One of my friend’s brother called me and asked if Distance learning is good for him? I suggested not to go with Distance learning program. I had done full time graduation and did Masters from a distance learning university. I had to struggle many times to explain about my Master Degree and there are many companies who do not consider candidature if you hold a Distance learning degree. Finally I got Job and now after having 6 years of working experience it does bother me anymore as to which degree I have. Based on my experience I feel that we should not go for Distance Learning program, its good if you already have job and want to gain a degree. What do you think about it?
