I really like the show but it's practically unwatchable because of his nearly constant use of the "F" word. All those beeps drive me nuts! I know that cursing is a habit (a very bad one!) but it can also be broken and I would enjoy the show much more if Mr. Ramsey would control his cursing. Of course, if I could make my opinion clear to him he's probably respond with a resounding "F you!"
Have you seen this show? Do you generally enjoy cooking shows? I don't usually watch shows about food.

In the past I've refused to watch anything with Gordon Ramsey on it as his attitude turns me off completely!!!
His Kitchen Nightmares comes on my local Fox network & it was the ONLY thing on one night & God forbid I turn my TV off!!!
That is a dayum GOOD show!!! I get tired of ALL the beeps, but otherwise enjoy watching him turn people's restaurants around. When they are cursing him back, I'm wondering WHY they invited him in the first place??? It's NOT like he hides his personality until he gets there!!!
I watch this show almost every week!!!

It's fascinating, isn't it? I also caught a show where he revisited a few restaurants. One had been replaced and I wasn't a bit surprised that it had failed. The other two were thriving. I do like the show but the beeps are SO annoying! Most British I've seen on TV use the term "bloody" which is apparently considered very bad and equal to our "damn" and I don't mind that so much but Mr. Ramsay certainly has a foul mouth. He needs to be around people who don't use it! I used to cuss like a sailor because my husband did but after my divorce I got out around people who did not curse and I rarely do it now. And when I do, I feel horrible about it. Maybe that would work for him--I can't imagine that people would enjoy that kind of language but then, it's a much different world than I grew up in.

You can watch this series at your convenience. I haven't watched any of them there yet so I don't know if the beeps are in them.
I have cursed so bad in my lifetime that I could make a sailor blush; but, since moving back home, I have found that I can control it if I try. I still curse around my friends who curse, but have the ability to cut it off when around anyone who is offended. So, Gordon could do better IF HE TRIED!!! Maybe ALL his shows should be on HBO, Showtime, etc so he doesn't get beeped so often. Then again you would have to get used to hearing the "F"-bomb ALL the time. I've heard he's not like that in his real life. Sadly his career was going nowhere until he added it to his attitude.

I hadn't noticed the error in your title & had read it correctly as I'm known to do often. I found it funny that when I received my email notification for your comment, it was cut off at the perfect spot & read..."New Comment - I recently found God". Maybe there's more to Gordon than you & I see!!!

He does swear a lot but some of the people he has to deal with on Kitchen Nightmares are enough to make anyone swear! Some folks are trying and nice enough but some of them couldn't run a hotdog stand let alone a big restaurant like they are trying to but they are often in total denial about their problems.

Now that I've watched quite a few episodes, I can see how he can get aggravated! Some of those people are unbelievable! I don't see why anyone would not take advice from a successful restaurateur, a few of them just argue and it's enough to drive anyone nuts. I do like how Ramsey is when he is with his children, he really cleans up his mouth and attitude then!

We also get Kitchen Nightmares on the Food Network Channel as well as Fox and I find that they have bleeped out most of those F words. (Of course, i feel it could be that he has three children and the oldest one at least is old enough to watch the show and he does not want his children to think that is all right to use the F word.)
I do find that it is a wonder that those restaurants survived without someone dying of food poisoning with their unsanitary conditions.
I love cooking shows. But it do not like it when the cook is a know it all who thinks we are little kids, like what i call 'The Tall Guy" does - he is the one that is based in Nova Scotia.
Oh if you do see Mr. Ramsey, tell him that "you would not want your kids coming out with the F word, would you?" I am sure that he will stop doing that.

I like it now that on our network they are bleeping out his swear words. It is a good show in that he is quite strict as to the standards the restaurant owners should have, and also in Hell's Kitchen, he is strict as to the standards the contestants have to have in food preparation, but like you, I do not like this foul language.
By the way, I also do not like the way some of the contestants act and when especially they berate the other contestants. I did find that the winner on one of the shows was one of those who did not say bad things about the other contestants.
I also hate when people swear on shows and more if they do it because they cannot find a better word to express their anger. Swearing when one hits his finger with a hammer is one thing, it is less excusable when using it in regular conversation.
But I guess you cannot expect that much nowadays when gutter language is so popular among certain types

Some of those restaurants are truly disgusting!! It has just reinforced my dedication to making my own meals!!
Ramsey has children?! Hey, I'll bet he's a good dad. I've found that the more blustery the man, the softer he is with children. They are that way because they are insecure. Of course, you have your brutes that are mean to everyone but Ramsey doesn't exhibit the telltale behavior of those jerks. At least, not obviously.
I would not let my kids watch this show. They are 21 and 22 now but I would not watch it with them present. I always try to set a good example even now that they are grown. I have talked with my mom about this kind of stuff and her example to me throughout my teen and adult years really shaped my character. It's never good to stop showing your children how decent people behave.

I have seen Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares and several other of his cooking style programmes and they all contain bad language. He has built up his career on this reputation. It's not big and it's not clever. I dont really rate him as a chef either but I have never tried his cooking.
All chef's seem to have hot tempers, but few express themselves like he does.
I suppose it's just his trademark.
Have fun.

Your right, it's not a very good trademark to have but, he has built his fame on it and people are always speaking about it, so it works. If he did not have that then I dont think his cooking abilities would be good enough to generate interest in his television programmes. Alot of people visit his restaurants just in the off chance he may be there and to hear him swearing at his team in the kitchen, so sad.

My mom always told us that people who resort to cursing don't have the intellect necessary to express themselves any other way. With Mr. Ramsay, I'm told that he wasn't popular until he started using that word. Strangely enough, on the segments where he is with his family he speaks very well and never curses!

I have watched this show too, and yeah he has built his reputation up on this word, which really is quite bad, but as many programmes these days it is all about the entertainment factor, and a lot of people do actually enjoy this kind if thing... he also has a show (or at least used to) aptly named "The F Word!"... I do like watching cooking shows, and have a few favourite chefs, although he is not one of them... I like Jamie Oliver, Nigella Lawson, Barefoot Contessa, and Gino D'Campo!

I LOVE Jamie Oliver! I watched his show this past season and it was really good--showing all the misery that comes from overeating of bad food and giving hope to people. I also found "You Are What You Eat" this week about a British nutritionist and the wonders that happen when you cut out red meat, salt and fat from your diet. I've been doing that for about a year now and my aches are mostly gone except when I succumb to a craving for frozen dinners or eating takeout. I really like the BBC America network.

I saw "The F Word" on the guide today and watched it for the first time--very entertaining! As the credits rolled, I noticed that all profits from his F Word Restaurant are donated to the UK Tourette's Syndrome charity!!

I have never seen this one, and it would probably not be one of them I would want to watch because of the language. But personally I Love Gordon Ramsay. He is quite talented. Sometimes I do agree that he needs to learn to control his language a little more as well.

I actually really like his shows cursing and all. I think after a while you just block ir out. It amazes me what he finds in those kitchens and how well he gets them cleaned out.You should watch his other show Hells Kitchen where he has all the chefs competing to be number one, and they are eliminated each week. Well the cursing is worse in this show.

I don't think I would like Hell's Kitchen. I've seen the promos and it's not something I would enjoy. I do enjoy his turning around restaurants that are not profitable and the crap he finds in sanitation category just reinforces my resolve to cook my own meals!!

hi dragon54u I have never watched his program here in the US but his constant use of the F word would really spoil the fun in watching the
cooking as I do like to watch some cooking shows, not all. Jaques Pepin woujld drive me nuts with his constant
add two tablespoons of butter in anything or again add butter as much as you want. His recipes were slated to bring on high cholesterol and heart attacks if you made and ate that over rich food.

That would get tiring!
I have some butter in the fridge that's been there awhile because I'm watching my fat and calories. Last week I broke down and bought an "everything" bagel. The thought of that hot toasted bagel with a slab of cold butter on each bite was mouthwatering but the reality was completely different. My taste buds have changed so it certainly wasn't the delight I thought it would be and even a couple small slabs of that butter upset my stomach for the rest of the day!
I like food like Pepin seems to make (I've never heard of him before) but only rarely. I usually take such recipes and re-do them to be healthy!

It really is an interesting show. As I told another respondent, I watch the first few minutes then the last few to see how the restaurant has made positive changes. Anything in between is just a curse-fest and pretty much useless as far as I'm concerned.
I used to use that language because my husband did. After he divorced me for another and I got out of the house and among normal, civilized people it wasn't very hard to stop. I don't think I've said the F word for a year or so and the 4 years before that I said it only once or twice when I was around my sons--who learned it from him, too. It's a bad habit and has lost its shock value. Its just one more thing that makes it clear to me that I'm better off unmarried and unattached.

Ah, yes, good old Gordon. My husband can't stand him, and he's british himself, lol. Most of the british stars you see over here on tv are nasty, I don't know why. My sister in law absolutely loves this show. When I went to Great Britain with my husband a few years ago, I watched a program on tv there where contestants had to make a meal out of some weird ingredients, the name escapes me. It was very entertaining, I think another celeb chef, Jamie Oliver was hosting that. They would give you like a can of pork and beans, a box of jello, and some onions, lol!! The look on the faces of the tasters was priceless. My husband seen the promo for Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen coming on Fox during American Idol, and he turned to and said bluntly, "I'm not watching that," lol!

I've seen previews of Hell's Kitchen, too, and it's not something I think I would enjoy. I don't like to see someone bullying and cussing people. Ramsey is, in my opinion, attractive and charismatic and if he would just get civilized and learn some manners I would watch anything he made.

I love Gordon Ramsey and I watch the British and American versions of Kitchen Nightmares as well as his competition reality show Hell's Kitchen. I love his straight forward approach to things and the man knows his stuff. But, YES, the bleeps are annoying! I think the British version that's on the Food Network later at night isn't censored which does make it less annoying. I don't necessarily enjoy hearing gratuitous swearing but I would rather hear the words than the stupid bleeps.

I really think that the show would be more effective if he would censor his language. He would come off as a person that had a good education and experience that did not need to resort to cursing to make his point.
That said I do like him, although his show loses my commercial viewing.

I so agree with you. You would think after being on TV for this length of time that someone would have said to cut the cursing already. It is so annoying hearing the beep and beeping that goes on because of his dirty mouth. I don't understand why its permitted. Its very easy to quit this habit so I just don't get it. I like his show but sometimes he gets so crazy I have to change the channel. I don't usually watch cooking shows though. I guess I just don't have time for them.

It's easy to break the cursing habit if you're around people who don't curse. It wasn't till I moved back home to the Midwest that I really broke the habit--before that, in the Southwest, it had to be a conscious effort. People here say those words, of course, but it's still conservative enough that it's generally frowned upon in public. I like myself better now that I've broken that habit. Ramsey would be very attractive if he would clean up his language and I would watch the whole show, not just the first and last part.

Personally the cursing doesn't bother me, and I've found places online (youtube for example) that has the show uncut, and un sensored. So it doesn't really bother me. Its worse on fox, because they sensor the s word, as well as the f word. And try to hide it if someone gives the "finger" not like it isn't obvious enough.
But, getting back on track. Yes, I watch and love kitchen nightmares. I just finished watching it on fox. Hell's Kitchen returns Tuesday and I'm looking forward to that too.

Ramsey is entertaining but the continual beeps annoy me. I also would not like to hear the F word constantly although I used to use it as often and Gordon does. My mom used to tell me that people who curse don't have the intellectual prowess to express themselves properly and the older I get the more I agree with that. No denying Ramsey has what it takes for a successful show, but I really don't think he needs that kind of language. The fact that his career took off after he started that stuff doesn't say good things about our societies!
